Has anyone else experienced a rattling noise coming (apparently) from behind the instrument binnacle .... and if so has anyone had the problem fixed?? .... my dealer reckons he's had the dashboard in pieces and tightened everything up ... but the noise is still there and if anything I think it's getting worse!

My mum had this problem, if ur on about what i think it is. It was just some wires rattling about in the engine comparment at the back.

Yup, got that noise too. No idea what it is but it gets ignored along with all the other squeeks, rattles and warning beeps....

does this only appear when the gauges pointers go backwards? (are those the right words? somebody tell me!)

mine has that too and the only fix is to replace the whole dash... common stilo problem....

Two quick things to check!

1. Push the stereo into the dash, to make sure its locked in place! I had mind not fitted properly by garage when they replaced the vents above it! That caused a rattle, that sounded like it was behind the dash! Sounds travel weird in the Stilo.

2. have you got the sunglasses holder above the interior mirror! If you've got glasses stashed there take them out. I had a pair there and the occasional rattle sounded like it was coming from the passenger door, most annoying, only tracked down when i let someone else drive the car so i could locate the rattle and was surprised when it then sounded like it was coming from drivers door!

I noticed that theres a rattle :bang: .... from the fridge area i thot it was at first  ......the seat belt clip rattling against the release handle to pull the seat forward..........but no sounds like maybe the door planel no screwed in properly or hard enuff......still working on it :chin:

My mum's Stilo had a very annoying buzzing vibration from the instrument area of the dash - happened around 70-80 mph in fifth (hence very annoying).

Dealer also said they couldn't find it - in the end they replaced the whole dash, which fixed it.

I had a very annoying ratling noise (quite loud) that came from what seemed like the fuse box and it stopped when i pulled on the fuse box lid. In the end it turned out to be coming from whre the soft dash (the top bit) met the hard plastic right next to the fuse box, it took me ages to find it but i'm soooooo glad to have done so 'cause i'm sure Fiat would have NEVER found it and probably broken something else!!!

PS; mine's a left hand drive car so you'll have to invert all the directions i just gave!!!!!!

Booked mine into FIAT, and I had the ever predictable "NFF" (No Fault Found). Do FIAT only employ deaf people now?

Mine bangs from the back (sounds like the strip where the air gets directed onto the windscreen), and happens also if you push on the instrument cluster. Only happens on drivers side. (RHD)

Mine does it too, when the instrument binnacle rattles i give it a whack and it stops, has a VERY annoying rattle, well more of a creaking when idling, coming from the passenger side dash. I'll check the heaters tonight, it only seems to happen when in idle, and when in gear it stops. How odd. Armrest rattles occasionally too!

when my rattle came on just nudged the dash and it stops, but now the door of the top glove box rattles.

i found a solution, fill up the door cards with pens, cd cases empty cans and it creates a louder rattle, hiding the dash rattle and makes me think its my fault!
