Hello,

I'm wondering why some early 1.6 engines (2001 model) use Paraflu 11 (G11), while others (like my 2005 model) use Paraflu Up (G12).

I know you shouldn't mix G11 and G12, it's really bad, and one should stick with the recommended Paraflu brand. But could I use Hepu G12 or (violet) G12+, as they cost the same, about half the price of Paraflu around here ?

Has anyone tried violet/purple G12+ coolant, is it ok for the plastic and rubber hoses ?

How many liters of coolant do you need ... and is it possible to flush more than 80% of the old coolant (so I hear) ? In the manual is says 6.55 kilos (not liters!) so ... 3 liters should be enough + 3 liters of distilled water.

Thanks !

Nobody ? :)

I'll be putting in Hepu G12+ ... and let you know if it blows up :)

From what I undestand the 1.6 coolant capacity is 6.55 liters, but you can't extract more than 4-5 liters by normal means (disconnecting the bottom hose) so the old one mixes with the new.

But it will introduce water in the 1:1 antifreeze mix, since you can't really empty more than 4-5 of the 6.5 liters :(

You can mix more antifreeze with the water. Something like 3 liters of antifreeze to 1 liter of distiled water. Put it in the engine..then add as much water as needed.

Once you start the engine the coolant will get mixed in 1-2 minutes, after the thermostat opens.

That's a very good suggestion, thanks!

I'll probably have to measure how much fluid I manage to get out, then figure the correct dilution from here.
