Hi all,

Just joined forum, this is first post.

Yesterday my 7 year old Silo 1.9 JTD Sport refused to turn over, never had similar problem before.Car had been unused for 4 days ; have left it for 2 weeks before with no start up issues.

Borrowed a charger off neighbour, needle only went up to 2amp on starter dial, expected it to go up to 6, then come down to zero when charged.
Car started first time after charged for 3 hours today. Neighbour thinks Battery plates giving up, based on it not taking in the full amount from charger.

I hope he is right, and problem can be sorted with a new Battery - any other thoughts ?

It will be fooked mate. How old is it as they only have a couple of years guarantee. I put a new one in my car and its been great since. I also bought a new gel Motobatt one for my bike and its the best thing since sliced bread. Not sure if they do car ones but well worth the extra money if they do.

:yeahthat: i got my battery 2 years ago scrapyard so i know whats coming...

Lol. I used to do that. There was a scrap yard in Edinburgh where you could get in at night for a bit of free shopping. Needed a battery for my Datsun so got a mate to take me on his bike. Got one and sat it in my legs on the way home. Little did I know it was leaking and burned my jeans, legs and mates bike seat.
