Hi mates. so this morning i take my wife to work, and came back to home.
Everything started driving, turn off the the heating, turn it back only blowing cold air (Climatronic) . but so it was in the past, enough to Re-start the machine. but this morning I tried to turn off and restarted. For some time, starts and stops with low oil pressure of notices. And now not starting.:confused:
Plus both keys was inside car. Because it is cold outside, With one key i start the car..with other i lock my car and go back to drink a tea..maybe security system don't like that and block something ... ??

So...few minets ago i start the car.
First i try to star..nothing, engine runs but not starts..at one moment looks like it runs but nothing. Disconnect reconnect battery same.
But then i start listening, and no sound from fuel tank..i check or power comes into electrical pump +12 ok, disconnect the hose which goes to the engine, on acc nothing from pump, start engine couple times. Wait few seconds on acc pump starts working off acc. Connect hose, on acc pump works start engine and its runs.
Any ideas? :confused::confused::confused:

You may have poor contacts for the fuel pump relay located in the battery area fuseboard, the battery cover will give information on which relay it is , though it is one of the black relay's...you can swap it with the air con relay if your car has air con should the relay be faulty till you find a replacement, if needs be the relay can be prised apart to check the spring contact condition inside as after some time the contacts become scorched and pitted and fail to send power to the fuel pump.

If you are getting 12v + at the pump you should also check to make sure the ground is ok like this:
with pump connected put one lead of multimeter on the negative pol of the fuel pump and the other on a good ground.. like the door hinges where you see exposed metal....
If the ground from the fuel pump is good you will only see about 0.1 v .. if the pump ground is bad.. you will see anything to 13v
Voltage dropdown test.png

If the voltage drop down test is ok.. then i suggest getting a replacement pump.

I would say it's not the relay.. because he said he had 12v at the pump but the pump was not running.
The pump is only gets 12v if the relay is activated. so it's either a bad ground, a bad contact inside the pump assembly or the pump itself is dyeing and only works if it gets a bump or a shock ( the filing at the pump or the constant on / off cycle might have got it going this time).

Yes you could well be right on the pump earth contacts, just suggestion on the relay as it is one of the quicker options to try first I had similar issue of intermittent power to pump and was the relay that was going bad, I cleaned it up and keep as spare in the boot now after fitting new relay and cheaper fix than changing the pump if it was the relay.

Thank you all for help.
So this morning I trying to start my car, same. Pump not working, car not starting.
I check all relay in battery are, clean contacts. Same. So I disconnect same hose, couple times starting up..fuel show up, connect hose back and car runs. May someone can tell my witch relay are for pump? Because my covers are in other country :-D (same problem was then outside was really hot, over 30C, maybe now some issues with cold air? but probably no.. :) )

From what I recall it be relay T10 the black relay between 2 red relay's towards row of relay's nearest front of car, I swapped with relay T05 air con relay till replacement arrived as my JTD has air con if your car has air con you can try the same, as above though your pump may also be sticking or bad earth but least you can eliminate the relay, also the fuse for the jtd fuel pump is fuse F21 so something else for you to check if needs be.

I have check t10 relay, my it's red, and t5 black leather. So I clean contacts, ant put all in place. Now then turn on acc pump works. I will se in the morning. Maybe some fuel pressure sensor or something like that?

I wouldn't have suspected crank sensor to be honest. Crank sensor failure starts when engine is hot the car will stall. It will usually give you an error code when the crank sensor fails too. It fails typically when hot first as the internal resistance goes bad and shows error. Only when the sensor has well and truly and completely died (which rarely happens as they get replaced sooner than this due to hot stalling) will it fail to start from cold.

As others have said and my experience reflects this too - I'd suggest your fuel pump relay has failed or is failing. One of my old JTDs had the relay itself fail (the contacts were just fine) so I'd recommend replacing the relay, they're only cheap. I got one from a scrap yard car and solved problem completely.

Hi I had the same problem on my 1.9 JTD it was the crank sensor and ever since it starts first time every time
