Range Computer

I've always found it very anoying that when the range (miles to empty) in my stilo goes below 50km it just stops telling me how many km i've got left in my tank.

I can only guess that they do this so you won't rely on it down to that last liters and than run out when it says there's, say 5 km left and than blame them for the trouble.
This said, all the other cars i've been in with range computers always tell you right down to tha last mile and if you run out 'cause you waited too long well... that's your own problem!!

Does everybody else have this problem?? Is there any solution??

Re: Range Computer

I haven't seen it in my Stilo yet, but in my Punto JTD it stopped showing the "range to go" when the low fuel light came on.
And as you correctly put it, i was told they did that so a customer couldn't blame fiat when they ran out of fuel and the computer said "range to go = 15 km".

Come to think of it, i have seen the light go on once in the stilo and it still showed the range to go (although this was like 150km so can say what happens at 50km to go).

On a side note it actually startled me when the low fuel light went on, as it beeped three times and wrote "warning - low fuel" in the display three times (my Punto didn't do that).

Re: Range Computer

I let my light come on a few weeks ago because I wanted to empty my tank as much as possible before filling up with BP Ultimate. It worked fine for me because it went right down to 10 miles till empty

Re: Range Computer

Yeah it goes down to 25 miles and then you get --.

I guess its cost Fiat don't want you breaking down, and then blaming it on their computer, when in all fairness it could have been your driving..... Fuel computer says 25 miles to go, and you spank it and run out of fuel in 5 miles.

Re: Range Computer

Yep same for me, stops displaying range til empty. Obviously Fiats way of saying get to the garage buddy before you run out of fuel.

Same for me... although oddly enough, sometimes it simply stays on 30 for miles so you can play a really fun guessing game with it!

Re: Range Computer

Maybe it all depends on how hard you drive in general... i thought mine might be 25miles, but 30 miles sounds about right actually.
