Hi guys!

I have problem with my Bravo (192A800 engine), so this is an off topic. On Bravop forum i didnt get help. The problem is the:

Error code 1206, you must clean or replace the DPF.

The car was slow, and i couldn't reached the 3500rpm.
DPF clogging: 96%

The error is OK, i understood. BUT! After a regeneration the clogging was below 80%. I used the car on 4500-5000rpm, for 30km and the clogging was below 27%. After a second regenartion, the dpf was clogged, more than 80%. How it is possible? Iam driving 100km/h in 5th gear. Or i use the car badly? I should use in 2000-2500rpm? Or a sensor is not working?
The question is, after a long run with 4000-4500rpm (20km) the clogging was 21% below. after 30km the clogging is 76% (4th gear 2500rpm). I dont understand what parameter says the clogging percent. The differential sensor? Maybe it is wrong?

Thanks for the help!

stilos dont have DPFs, or at least i dont recall ever seeing a thread on it... but i work with mercs so kinda feel obliged to try to help you out.

theres 2 things you get with a DPF. soot content fill level and Ash content fill level.

soot you can clear, ash you cant (generally speaking)

now if your soot content is >90% its a pretty safe bet it will clear

BUT if your ash content reaches a certain threshold it will prevent the DPF from regenning also the more you attempt regens the more ash is created.

the major source of ash isnt failed regens though... it is incorrect engine oil you should be running the recommended grade of 'Low SAPS' or 'Low Ash' engine oil.

in my experience the USUAL reasons for a DPF failing to regen is a) the DPF Differential Pressure Sensor is at fault... b) the amount of failed regens is too high and its blocked by ash... c) the car is being used on many short trips and not being taken on long journeys enough for the exhaust to be properly heated up and fulfilling the regen prerequisites.

now you have a few options.
1) take it to a DPF specialist/DPF Doctor and see if there is anything they can do for you. (in my experience and generally speaking, the additives you put in the fuel dont work)
failing that...
2) get your DPF removed and deleted. as far as im aware, in the UK there is no legal requirement for an owner to keep a DPF (though there is a legal thing that manufacturers must sell cars with DPFs)
if that isnt an option...
3) buy a new DPF. although expect it to be the best part of GBP£1000

EDIT:- dunno if this will help...? https://www.fiatforum.com/croma-ii/328185-p1206-limp-mode-problem.html
