hello all, new here and new to stilo too.

ive just picked up a used stilo 1.9 active aircon jtd multiwagon and i do know it needs the rear bushes done but it also seems to have a loud roar coming from the rear drivers side when doing around 40mph, it goes off(gets quieter) at around 60 then gets louder from 65 or so. im totally lost as to what this might be as as far as i know bushes would not cause this sort of noise (their is bangs as i go over bumps which i suspect to be from the bushes)

thanks in advance

i was suspecting wheel bearing but i would of thought it would be a constant noise dependant on speed not one that fades in and out, will check the wheelarch liner also

Any plastic trim missing at the rear what can be causing drag? What are the black parts at the rear window corners. Another thought. Does it have shocks that bolt inside the car? If so it the rubber bushes intact and bolt tight. Could be vibrating.

Wheel bearing most probably...
I had this kind of noise on my stilo and I was convinced that noise is coming from the tires and I change all 4 tires.
Unfortunately, the noise remains... :-(
The noise become louder and louder til it was so loud that you can't hear your own thoughts...
Finally when the rear wheel bearings are changed, the noise disappeared.
It was the right rear wheel bearing that was gone but I change the both of it...
It turned out that the reason for the bearing failure is the incorrectly installed brake pads that was constantly breaking and the whole hub was overheating.

Wheel bearing mine was the same, sticking calipers overheat the hub knacker the bearings hence the noise, I would check the rear calipers for sticking on just changed mine easy job might as well do the lot. discs, hubs, calipers and pads.
