I fitted these lines back in 2011, at the front. Rears done earlier. Just to mention it, it was a pointless modification - no change in brake power whatsoever.

Anyway, front left blew on a hard brake yesterday, leaving almost no brake power at all. Luckily there is a handbrake. I would have thought a UK made product would last longer...

So now I plan on changing both front lines, and am wondering if they are a custom Stilo fit, or if any other lines (from another car) can be used. Surely it has to be correct length an fittings, what else will make a difference? It takes quite a while to get new lines if they aren't at the garage supply.

Regards, Morten.

Thanks. Will stick to standards, as they were no imrovement at all. I bought mine at Balance Motorsport, and I'd expect them to be better than this.

A little note. Goodridge delivers a set/kit for the Stilo, but the package cointains only 4 lines, the Stilo has 6. And the fittings (nuts) are too big to fit the brackets.

Annoying that it happened Saturday afternoon - seconds after all shops closed. Changing them is a 10 minute job, but getting two kids to school, guitar lessons and ballet is the biggest concern... :)

I have never used braided steel hoses.

Everytime i read posts on them... people said oh there great etc, then MOT time comes and they have corroded or burst..

Ive heard more stories about the above than ever heard of with standard hoses.

Both stories apply to HEL and Goodridge, my friend has a set on his landrover disco 300tdi... and he also made up all his brake lines and replaced them with copper ones... his appears to be fine and has been on the 4x4 for 100k now. However, this still doesn't convince me.
