Anyone else seen this "fault"?

My Stilo had a mortal fear of 96,221 miles. Every time it got to 96,220 it would reset back to 95,750 miles. Did it about 5 times, until yesterday when I finally hooked it up to FiatECUscan to check for errors. I found no errors but took the decision to up the ODO to 96,500miles to see if I could get past the problem, it appears to have fixed it.

Why would I add milage to my car when it clearly doesn't want to go up? Well for one I didn't want any issues come MOT if the milage clocked itself down between MOT tests. Plus I like hitting 100,000 in cars I've owned in the past.

Bit late to this, but since no one else has commented.....

It was a problem that affected some Stilo's - a mate had a 1.2 Active AirCon (it had aircon, you know ;) ) and his would reach a certain mileage and jump back. He got the instrument cluster replaced, I believe.

Seemed to be a few cars that had this problem around 10 years ago - the Peugeot 307 was another. Though that had most problems that a car could've had, to be fair!

I thought I'd sussed it when I bumped it forward 500miles past the sticking point. I assumed maybe there was a logic error somewhere. Anyhoo I've not fixed it as it reverted back as per before when the milage hit 97,800miles. So now I just keep and eye on it and reset it back to "roughly" where it was when it reset.

Shame too, this is pretty much the only problem I've had with the Stilo that i've not been able to fix. Almost a 100k on the clock and its the first electric glitch to speak of. Just have to live with it as the car is driving well still and economy is up to a slightly stunning 42mpg average (by manual calculation).
