Ey up,

NSF knocking when on rough surfaces, no noise on smooth roads it's proper getting on my nerves. Four mechanics are still scratching their heads even though between them they've replaced:-

top mounting caps/bearings
shockers
drop links
wishbones
steering rack (Fiat /Alfa Specialist)

Has anyone here replaced at least these and managed to sort it out?

Cheers

Lee.

It's not something silly like an engine or gearbox mount worn, all sorts of noises can happen,
Had an Audi GT that used to squeal on throttle, this was worn engine mounts, engine was hitting the bonnet catching the timing belt, took some serious figuring out, mounts looked mint.

Thanks for the replies, All I know is that whenever I take it to a different garage I've seen them checking the usual suspects (engine mounts, anti roll bushes) it was only after the rack and drop links (all new) were replaced that I've decided that the idea of it could be this lets change it theory doesn't work.

Cheers

Just to let people know its finally been cured, turns out it was the cheap new front struts that were at fault. The garage that fixed the problem tested them off the car and diagnosed it straight away. From now on I will be staying away from cheaper spares, the words false and economy spring to mind.

Can't remember the make but I bought them from shop4parts in Bradford. The choice they have is limited and if I remember right they cost about £50 a side.
