Hi, back again

Stilo JTD just 04.

Had an intermittent (twice) immobiliser icon ondash, car while moving it still ran.

Have posted and had several responses which have led me to suspect the ECU as at fault.
Contacted Acutronic who on getting description of problem asked that the "Arial, Transponder & Immobiliser box" were all returned with the ECU.
Have the whole area around the electric PAS totally clear of any trim bits. Can locate and will remove transponder and aerial - but where is the immobiliser box. The wires from the transponder go over the steering column and then go into a complete loom. This seems to go into the engine compartment and cannot feel any exit wires (I am probably wrong). There is a black box next to the fuel filter which I have not removed yet (a bit more stripping down first).

Can anybody confirm that this is the immobiliser. Or can anyone give a good description of a immobiliser box. All info appreciated.

A compounded problem - I took the ecu out and split to check for corrosion and did alittle bit of resoldering. Went to open the tailgate for the tools - cannot open battery disconnected. Connected it got the tools, put the ECU back. Turned on ECUScan and the ECU is not present. Reseated the ECU and realised I had removed and replaced the ECU with power on. So it is not a check now it is a full repair job.

When it is running again I will post record of actions to make the job of removing steering wheel easier - promise & probably to guides.

One thing that is going to happen when waiting is the white dials are going in. I have them on my bench and every now and again look at the instructions and say this looks too easy but I will give it a try. I think you need the steering column naked to fit the White Dials easy. At least you can make a good pic of the cluster for needle position.

Could be a nearly new car if I can find the immobiliser.

Thanks for all info posted on previous thread.

Itwould appear that the actual location of the immobiliseris unknown.

In the copy of purchased "elearn" there is no mention of security system or immobiliser so I suppose it is a figment of my imagination that the car will not start and I have a growing pile of bits from under the dash in my quest to find it.

When or maybe IF I find it I will willingly share it with this forum.

Main part of the immobiliser is integrated within the body computer.

A circular aerial located around the ignition switch receives the immobiliser code from the key and sends it to the body computer. The body computer confirms the code with the engine management ECU to allow the car to start.

Below are the description and functional descriptions of the CODE system for the JTD 8 valve from eLEARN.

Many thanks for the info.

I have been looking for a small black box that takes the leads fro the ignition aerial, (white/white brown). And so far have split the wiring loom down to a big junction of wires at the end of the PAS box. At that point the wiring goes logically to either into the engine compartment (horrors) or the Body Computer. As I cannot, by feel, find any breakout from the loom going to the Body Comp area, which is where I was hoping to find the immobiliser.

Appears I will have to send the Body Computer, Aerial and ECU to get it fixed and hopefully working again.

Still on the positive side I will be able to fit the white dials I bought last year to be fitted urgently.

Again thanks and if anything useful for the rest of the forum will either post or send to guides. Have several useful bits to put on guides when I have the time.

Bernie.
