Today my stilo engine died, cause? Snapped cambelt. Cambelt changed ~30000km ago.
Since I don't have money to do repairs at workshop, I will do almost everything myself.

Previously couple of times I have removed engine head for Mazda 323F (1992) 1.8 16v and for Opel Astra 1,4 8v (1997) engine. So I have some experience.

For beginning, maybe someone can comment on the valve bending?
According to Autodata, engine bend's valves. Maybe someone can comment?

Probably on Tuesday I will remove engine head.

Unless someone persuade me not to do

My stilo 1.6L 16V 2004 multiwgon

Waiting for suggestions and questions

:( sounds terminal

if you've done HG work before then you'll find this one easy! make sure you have all the tools and parts first (including cam timing tools) essential for rebuilding correctly.

chances are the valves are bent, although only a head strip will confirm. makes sure pistons and cylinder walls are good too.

expect a scrap engine... anything you can rebuild from this can only be a good thing! good luck!

1.6 is an interference engine if I remember correctly so...

May I ask how old was the belt?

Didn't Roy L make a guide for a cambelt change on the 1.6?
Yes, I have read that guide

Belt was changed 2 years ago, ~30000km sins change

Get a engine from breakers and swap it
It's not that cheap, also you don't know what you will get ;)

I forgot to order new belt and bearing.

First day.

I could not unscrew the bolt, had to use screwdriver and hammer.

Here I stopped working

I don't know if I will have time tomorrow.

It's all for today. I will keep posting with new infofmation...
