EML What is it? I had to replace a dying battery today. The old one ran flat due to non use of the car for 9 days. I now have the orange engine light. Looking at other threads it says this should clear after a few starts but what is it. OH, I am getting lose connection also. I have the ECU unplugged just now but about to go out. I also have not got the cables to get the code from the car yet so cant clear anything.

Cheers

EML = Engine Management Light. Its the car's ECU telling you to check it, its got some information for you!

If there are no issues, then after I think three starts (Ian di think go for a drive between each one) it will turn the light off...

Engine Management Light. How obvious when you sit down and think about it. :D Cheers Clivvy. Ill leave it just now. I do have another oddity. My left hand window works on the R/H button and vice versa. Same with the wing mirrors. See if that clears itself unless anyone has any ideas for me to look at. :)

hmm..that is odd...I presume they worked normally before swapping the battery? what size battery did you fit, have you knocked anything when fitting the new battery like a relay or wire?

Oh, I cant see what engine Stilo you have...!

Its a 02 1.2 Clivvy. Don't think I hit a relay but I will have a look. It was just a simple battery swap and yes they were fine before.

Just came back to chuck this in if it helps. Passenger window button operates the passenger window just fine. Only drivers buttons have had a fit. :) Old duff battery was a 50ah and the new one is 60ah. Lucky the should did not have any 70ah like I wanted. I no doubt have 6 reverse gears and one forward.

its like you are activating the remote feature where you press and hold unlock to open all the windows at once, but how I don't know from pressing the button on the door...?!

Maybe the extra power has given the car a superiority complex?

Well the EML has gone out like you said but god knows about the windows. Got a lot of running about to do just now so I will strip things down more later to have a good look but the main fusebox in the engine bay looks all fine and solid.

Found this old post that fixed my window problem. Thank you Jonathanbees

battery disconnected over night no joy still the same

but had an idea and fixed it going by the fact that both the front can controllers are the same i unplugged the both front door looms in the door shuts and turned ignition on so body can controller recognises they are missing i then reconnected the drivers side and turned the ignition on and back off then the passenger side and turned ignition back on and hay all is working as it should i guess the body controller thought the drivers side door was fitted on other side of car (that way switches would be round the right way)
