As the heading says, my Stilo randomly stalls when started or when revved quite a bit. Also stalls sometimes when coming to a stop. Have no confidence in it on hill starts any more so tend to keep the revs up just avoid stalling and rolling back into the car behind. Connected my laptop and the only code that came up was P1531.

I'm also getting ABS/ASR Failure come up when ever I press on the break pedal.

Question is does anyone know the cause and ways to rectify these problems. I have looked around on the forum and it seems there isn't any definitive answers or may have missed them. Would appreciate any help. Got my M.O.T next month and would like to sort it out before then.

Thanks

Idle valve needs cleaning! Mines done that a couple of times over the years. 10 min job. Get some carb cleaner from halfords take pipe off to reveal the butterfly valve and give it a good old spray. Then rev the nuts of it for a couple of seconds at at time. Always cures mine from stalling.(y)

HI....very common problem as i see this one about engine stall.... my stilo has the same problem. change fuel pump but nothing. i have read many threads but no one say about a solution. i think about battery. that simple. or ecu over heating. Cause it happens on the way after some miles

I have a thread going on the same problem. Happens at high revs, slowing down, sudden acceleration but only after a couple of miles. Sometimes mine wont start again and I get a car security error thrown in the mix too. Gotta give it a few mins or a few turns of the key.

Brought it to Fiat and they said it was the phase sensor/cam sensor. To change it I have to also change the timing belt. (500euro job!) What a crap design! Asked 2 garages and both have said Fiat are wrong and I should bring it to a auto electrician. But as you have the error appear when breaking, the brake switch seems to be your easy fix.

hello guys again.. just 3 days ago i cleaned the two battery poles because they were covered by salts (? sorry about my pronunciation) probably because of the moisture... drive the car these days (radio and clima off thought) and i havent any problem.. i think of low battery energy because of the lots of electric functions of the car. if happens again i ll go for a bigger battery
