Hi all,
While checking for codes etc after changing ECU on my 2002 1.6 16v (which is running without weird engine faults now thank god) I noticed that the engine (coolant) temp was about 96 degrees C and the (intake I guess) air temp was about 60 degrees C.
The gauge for coolant temp shows mid way so I'm assuming the Stilo runs around this anyway yes? But the air temp bothers me alot more, surely that can't be right? Will the sensor be on it's way out? And what sensor is it if you think it is?
Thanks in advance.
Simon.

hi, cant offer you a solution but what i can tell you is that i have exactly the same temperatures showing +/- a few degrees when i connect my car to my diagnostics machine... mine's a 52 reg 1.6 also, the air intake temperature baffled me aswell, was going to investigate further, but seen as we're having this lovely weather got way layed re doing the whole garden lol... ill keep an eye on this thread and see if anyone can throw some light on these high readings

In a strange way, that's a bit comforting as I was beginning to be a bit paranoid after my ECU problem :(
I hope it's nothing to worry about, the car does seem to run well now anyway, so fingers crossed and here's hoping some kind person has an answer for us both :)

after having a little think this is what i think might be causing high air intake temperatures... theres a fuel/oil vapour recirculation pipe that comes from over near where the sparkplugs/coils are and re attaches to air intake pipe, if sensor is loacted after this bit towards throttle body might explain why temp reading is so high... just my thoughts

Now that is a very good point and also I believe the temp sensor is towards the back of the engine, after the throttle, and above the exhaust area which may add background heat. Good thinking. Like I say, doesn't seem to cause any running or fuel consumption problems, but me being me, it worried me slightly.
