My Stilo Multijet has just been measured and the data is as follows:

Standard: 140bhp(103KW) at 4000 rpm and 305nm at 2000 rpm.

My multijet: 140bhp(103KW) at 3640 rpm and 337nm at 2210 rpm.

whatd you do to your Mjet ? more torque and bhp come in faster, sweet. id like to drive one of those, i bet it pulls like hell. though the rev range is rather narrow and i guess that with a chip youd do constant burnouts :D

I haven't done anything. It's as standard as it can be. :D
With a chip it should be around 170bhp (don't know about the torque).

But i'm pretty happy with it as it is (for now).

A magazine here in Spain tested it ad it went almost up to 150 bhp. Is your engine new santa??? the test that they did was done on an engine with (i think) 20.000 miles so en theory, if your engine is new, when it loosens up, it'll go even faster!!!! :D

Yep, it's new. It has run just a bit over 1900 km.
But i can always hope you're right. (y)

But the torque is well above the factory numbers (up from 305nm to 337nm), which is pretty good and the max. bhp is actually at lower rpm than it's supposed to be.

And i can't say it enough: The engine is just great!

I completely agree, the engine is absolutely great i love it too!!! But i can asure that it will lossen up, mine did and now it feels so much more alive than when i got it; it's a good, fun and minght i add economical engine! (y)

The engine is great. A remap would however be beneficial to broaden the higher rev range. The numbers are odd however. Mine actually achieves 4000 rpm (213 km/h) in a straight line, which would suggest a peak at around 4000 rpm. Incredible what differences there are between these engines...

It all depends how they've been run in. An engine that hasn't been run in in tests after a few thousand miles will actually produce more power! (y)

It could be, as Stilo Multijet 140bhp said, that my engine will "loosen up" after some more km (after all it has only just passed 1900 km). :)
PureTNT: How many km has your multijet rolled?

I know a remap will yield even more power, but i'm concerned about the clutch, transmission and driveshafts. How much more power can they handle?

Mine has almost 16.000 km on the clock. Regarding the remap, just make sure the torque doesn´t all come in at high revs. The bottom end up to 2500 rpm should stay as similar to stock as possible, most of the extra power should only come on afterwards. It helps the transmission helth enormously.

Ben R: mine´s been run in dynamically. Most of the time was spent between 2000 and 2500 rpm, but I did do several long-distance drives on the highway, giving it all it had. After the first 500 km the car was already approaching 4000 rpm (I have a 176 km/h police ticket to prove it - the officer actually asked me if I thought it was the correct way to break in the car as it was only two days old). Do note though that the periods inbetween these sprints were spent at the afforementioned 2000 to 2500 rpm. It does seem to have broken the engine in fine. The oil consumption is low, even though I do lots of city driving and the car is extremely fast, relative to what I was expecting in its stock form. I seem to have good luck with the cars I drive :) .

Santa, your Punto JTD would have been the same, only coming into it's own at about 30,000km.

As for tuning it, I wouldn't bother but if you want to

Actually, according to my calculations, your car should top out at 194 km/h if I were to base the calculations on my car. 55 km/h @ 1000 rpm according to the speedo with a 3% error. Equals 200 km/h @ 3640 rpm according to the speedo minus 6 km/h.

I've had it up to 215 km/h on the speedo, but as i didn't use my gps i don't have the actual speed, but i will try that another time.
My speedo is about 6% off, so the speed should be 215 x 0,94 = 202 km/h but i will try it with my gps in place.

Slightly off the point... since getting GPS i've noticed my speedo is near-on 10% out

would be good if fiat had that mjtd in the uk for the stilo, rather then just the 115bhp jtd.

Yeah, it's a great car and i don't understan why Fiat havn't taken it to the UK, after all, if there's a country that likes fast cars that woud be the UK!!!

PS; did you all know that there are more convertibles in Engalnd than in Spain!!!

I don't get it either. What are Fiat UK thinking?!?
We have the opposite situation in Denmark, the mjet has pushed the 115bhp jtd out of the market. They ended up being priced to close to each other so Fiat DK decided to just sell the mjet (and the new 100bhp jtd).
Not that i'm sad about it. ;)

seems like they prefer to keep the mjtd for the alfas instead :(
Guess i'll have to start saving for an alfa GT then! ;)

We've got the multijet Alfa's here too but the alfa 147 is in a diffrent class than the Stilo (in the same one as 1 Series or sportcoupe) which makes it much more expensive and now that the alfas have got the new 150bhp multijet i don't think the Alfa and the Stilo are competeing at all!!

Sigh... trust fiat to make crap judgements and trust fiat UK to make even crapier judgements!!
