Technical Good Year Eagle

No experience with those particular Goodyear, have used GY in the past but not a fan.

Currently using NOKIAN 205/55 R16 94V XL which I highly recommend but as the saying goes " yer pays yer money and yer makes yer choice!"

Thanks. Any issues using 94 XL? I have 87 on my 17" on, and the Good Years are 91 XL. Since I pull a caravan and overload the car occasionaly (did I spell it right) I thought it was a good idea to have higher load capacity than standard.

None at all.

Your spelling is perfect - dare I say a whole lot better than many indigenous subscribers! :D

I think Shadey likes and highly recommends the Eagle F1 Asymmetric tyres. I am sure I saw a post he made in an old thread praising those tyres, I could be mistaken though.

Based on the efficiency ratings though, I would recommend these - http://www.mytyres.co.uk/cgi-bin/rs...rd&Label=B-A-69-1&details=Ordern&typ=R-234564 - Goodyear Efficient Grip Performance 215/45 R17 91W XL with rim protection (MFS). That is just the size of tyre I needed, if your tyres are a different size please take that into account. I haven't used these as I couldn't stretch my budget that far, but everyone said it was a great tyre in a lot of reviews I read and you still get the 91 XL load rating so it would help towards your loaded car with a caravan.

This is what I went for in the end - http://www.mytyres.co.uk/cgi-bin/rs...rd&Label=C-C-72-2&details=Ordern&typ=R-168362 - Goodride SV308 215/45 ZR17 91W XL with rim protection (MFS). I have only covered 1000 miles since having these tyres fitted, but they do live up to their reviews. They are a great budget tyre with good ratings on wet grip and fuel efficiency and are quiet once they have been scrubbed in which only takes a few hundred miles.

Hope this helps.

I'm going to try out landsail 388 205/55 R16 with the rims I got for my Stilo. They are fiat original rims that I got really cheap. They do however have skuff marks that I'll try to remove before I get the new tyres.

Apparently Landsail 288 are really good tyres as far as chinese tyres go. Better of using worn tyres than using most chinese brands. The 288 model of landsail got top marks from one of Sweden largest newspapers considering how cheap they are. The 388 are marked as being more quiet but weren't in the comparison. They have a B grade in wet handling and fuel economy and a decibel rating of 68. They also last quite well in some of the tests I've seen. I'm not going for high performance and excellent traction since it is a normal car and I'm not a 18 year old who thinks cooler that way. (or one of those guys that for instance drive a bmw but live with their mom)

I would prefer to get better winter tyres instead since Sweden has a demanding winter climate with alot of snow, ice and wetness all over. Normal mud and snow tyres do no good here. We need good studded tyres and nokian Hakkapeliitta 8 are probably the best you can get.

I have noticed I can't write short comments. It is a sickness.. I can't help it :/

I don't have the e number or dot code for the tyres. I saw them on a few tyre retailer websites that sell in Sweden so they have an e number and a rating according to 1222/2009 c1. The rest you would have to find on your own. I just found it on those websites and read good review about them when I searched for it.

My luck is that I can't find the tyres anymore I wanted in the size I want. Will have to look for another brand for my rims now. I think they sold out!
