Hey Guys,

I recently had the belts changed and a service done on my 2.4 Abarth and it runs great!

About two weeks later the engine developed what I can only describe as an Squeak from the Belt Area which it progressively getting worse. It's much like a tick, but very high pitched, so much so that my Dad can't hear it.

So it only happens when it's cold, getting faster and higher pitched when you rev the engine - disappearing when the cars warm.

I've attached a zipped .mov file if you want to hear it.

Thoughts?

Anyone got any ideas on this?

WD40 to the Aux belt makes it's go away for 5-10 seconds but it comes back again.

Hello

I had a similar problem to what you're experiencing http://youtu.be/ADbekrVOe3w

I had 2 new belts and a new crank pulley fitted to try and fix my issue but after a week or so the noise kept coming back gradually. It was because the belt wasn't tightened properly therefore it started slipping. So it might be worth checking that your alternator belt is properly tightened. The belt I have at the moment is Dayco. It's possible that it could be the crank pulley but I think it's more likely the belt.
