Hi , I drove my fiat stilo 1.9 jtd over 200 miles yesterday straight after u had finished my journey I tried to start it again and it wouldn't start and hasn't since it's says pre heat failure and the glow plug light is flashing but would it still be glow plugs cause I could imagine them been quiet warm after driving that far , any help would be grateful thanks .

very strange....i have had a pre heat fault for 2 years now but still starts first turn of the key in any weather and if i have driven it a few short distances then i go to start it, the pre heat fault goes away

I know many have had the pre-heat fault had it on my last stilo and my alfa.

its either gonna be from my past with the fault the heather module box (behind egr) or a fautly glow plug. if you have a meter you can test each glow plug.

check this guide, its all in there

there is one glow plug thats a pain to change cant recall which one. as Rat20V says strange it wont start. be nice to know what you have done if you have fixed the problem for future reference for others

i would suggest looking at the relay, the pre heat fault will still occur and none of your plugs will heat stopping the car starting.
Its well documented that the stilo will still start with one or even 2 glows out so i would aim straight for that.

edit.
before you start fault finding check the F4 fuse to see if its blown.

As the car wouldn't start when the engine was already hot, I suspect the glow plug warning message is a "red herring" and not the reason for it not starting.

Does the engine turn over when you try to start it?

Check if there are any other fault codes recorded.

Hi sorry for late reply it's was the main earth to the battery had come loose underneath , just put a new one on .. The glow plug sign was just a red herring in the end .

Thanks everyone for replying ..
