Stilo to be replaced

Autocar & Ayto Express have reported that Fiat head honcho (Sergio Marchionne) has said the the Stilo needs to be replaced "at the speed of light" to compete with the likes of the Focus. It could be as soon as 20 months. It will be developed and built by Austrian firm Magna Steyr, the same lot responsible for the Chrysler 300C. Hope it looks as good as the pictures flying 'round a few months back!

Cheers,

Re: Stilo to be replaced

Pretty pleased in a way, we'll all have some true collectors items!!! it'll keep them nice and rare. I'm not to worried about having "the old model" if it looks like the preview pics, because it looks a bit to "cute" for my liking.

I am not too keen on the 'new' Stilo either, too rounded, etc. Bring on the Alfa

Re: Stilo to be replaced

I still think I'm keeping my Abarth - just don't like the new look - not chunky enough. Too rounded and comfortable for me It would have to have a fantastic spec to make me switch. A new Alfa though - hmmmmm.

Re: Stilo to be replaced

As the Daimler Steyr-Puch factory constructs the atom-bomb proof Mercedes G-Wagon, then perhaps the quality of the Stilo will improve

Re: Stilo to be replaced

It's a sad fact that the current Stilo has never been up to the job. Is there one owner here that hasn't had a breakdown at some point?

Having said that a Stilo will probably be my next car...

Hmm,

not had a breakdown in 4 months and 8000 miles..... bet thats jinxed me saying that.

Still if the stilo was 100% reliable this forum would not have so much activity.

was this icon made with Fiat dealers in mind? as it certainly echoes my experience of them in the past, although Pipers in Maidstone do return calls and waived labour charge when they were looking for a fault, because they felt it should have been spotted earlier.

Re: Stilo to be replaced

I've had a few problems with mine but not an actual breakdown

Touch wood ( my head, not what your thinking Stu ) I have yet to be left stranded anywhere.

I am not gonna bother with the new Stilo unless they come up with an Abarth version that looks a lot better than the standard one.
I used to like the look of it but have gone off it now that I have decided to keep mine and do it up a little bit

Re: Stilo to be replaced

No breakdown and without a doubt the most reliable car I have owned. Nothing but minor faults that have been fixed a minimal hassle and under warranty.

The biggest factors holding the Stilo back, in my opinion, is the old image of unreliable, rusty, Italain cars, the dealer network which needs a rocket up the arse, the fact the press hate the Stilo and in general Fiat, and the less than attractive looks of the 5 door model.
