Hi I just bought a 02 Fiat Stilo 1.6 Dynamic.

I am quite short and also quite big. I have the steering wheel up and the seat down as far as it will go.

But as only the seat goes down and not the back, the lumbar support is in the wrong place.

I am finding it very uncomfortable to drive. I have started using a cushion behind my back, which is just an annoyance. But I'm still getting some back ache and really bad right hip pain when driving.

Has anyone else experience this?

I would hate to have to change it as I have only had it two weeks and really cant afford to change again.

But if I'm in pain just driving 20 minutes to work I'm never going to be able to go anywhere. Any advice would be much appreciated.

Claire

hi,

I think I know what you mean - there is a substantial gab between the back of the seat and the bottom - so as you adjust, the gap gets bigger and the lumbar is higher up?

Is the seat as far forward as you can get it?

unfortunately some cars are designed in such a way that adjustments to driving position may not suit all :/

+1 for Clivvy. in days gone by fiats were notoriously 'short in the leg and long in the arms' compared to most other cars namely the Uno, Cinquecento, Seicento, and early Puntos. i personally would like a couple of inches lower in the base but i can live with it on the lowest setting

wifey cant get on with the stilo either... the seat base is too long for her little legs... makes riding shotgun quite the experience!

she drives the Coupe which apparently is 'much better'... personally i think its more than just a coincidence

Yes the seat is very long for my short legs.

I put a cushion under me this morning to lift my hips up and i wasn't in pain, so will have to see how I get on with that.

Its not good though, can't be in pain every time I drive for more than 10 minutes.

I don't fit with the seat adjusted right up. I'm short so need seat really forward, but I'm also overweight so need seat down out of the way of the steering wheel.

Plus the seat slants back and is long, which is why I think I get the pain in my hip. The cushion has lifted my hip, but I still don't feel like I'm sat comfortably driving.
