Re: Stilo 1.6 EPS Failure and Constant Stalling

U1600 = key not recognised

P0606 = PCM Processor Fault = It basically means that the PCM/ECM (powertrain/engine control module) has detected an internal integrity fault in the PCM.

U1700 = CAN Network NCM - NBC (Engine Management ECU - Body ECU)

U1702 = CAN Network NCM - NGE (Engine Management ECU - Electric Power Steering ECU)

c1013 - PAS control unit fault

HOPE THIS HELPS

Thank you very much!! Very much so, but what do they mean? How can they be cured? Is the key problem why my remote has inexplicably dtopped working?

Still none the wiser. At the suggestion of an electronics mechanic I've disconnected every external and internal fuse to check for oxidisation (green staining) to the connectors and they all look fine, he;s heard of fuses getting leaks behind them (mine looks fine). :confused:

So she's still not idling properly, still no power steering and still no remote key locking/unlocking and now the headlight tilt has failed meaning I'm dazzling everyone. :bang:

Where is the main ECU located? Going to bite the bullet and send it away to an ECU specialist for inspection but I have no idea where it is from the pictures I've seen of the unit that fits my car and the e-learn is useless on my mac.

Fixing it to sell on as it's only done 30k from a new top head (hardly worn in!!) Need something far bigger and a diesel.

Any help greatly received.

That's amazing! Brave man to start soldering without knowing too. Right! Off out to have a look if pins are what's causing all these daft issues!! Cheers. (Fingers crossed so tightly my circulation has ceased!)

Nope. Not the pins. They're all in tact. Took off both terminals individually and listened to the noises. There's communication from both terminals but still the same errors present on the dash. The ECU looks very tarnished but can't see how that would affect performance/errors.

Calling an ECU specialist now for further advice...

Specialists say it's NOT the ECU, some say BSI, others says PAS ECU. Why is this car so bloody complicated?? Now got an engine management light on...

RESOLVED!!! It was the electronic steering rack AND ECU that had failed. I matched the numbers exactly from a Fiat breakers and my mechanic swapped em over. Back to normal but what a pain in the backside and lack of info there is out there! Hoping this post helps anyone else in the future!

So in the end you managed to sort out your error code- U1702- and this was due to a damaged Electronic steering rack? I am having the same Error code on my Grande Punto 09 plate and the power steering keeps cutting out intermittently, I have had a replacement column fritted but it is still playing up, so I take it from your case it's the electronic steering rack!
