Just bought a new centre exhaust for my Stilo 1.6. The holes on the flange that bolts to the manifold are huge, virtually the same diameter as the shoulder on the stud nuts.
Perhaps they did this so they could use the same flange for lots of different applications?
Anyway, my question is, is it OK to use a washer between the flange and nut or is that going to encourage the nut to loosen due to thermal expansion? Is there a better alternative?

washer and a spring washer... failing that washer and a locknut. wouldnt advise using nyloc nuts on exhaust though ;) copper locking nuts are the best for exhausts

some google/ebay searches may help you to find your prefered fastener
'Whiz Lock'
'Cone Lock'
'Staytite'
'Aerotight'
'Binx Nut'
'All Metal Self Locking Nut'
