Hello

Since i had my alloy wheels fitted the steering wheel shakes at 60-70mph but goes away above that. It doesn't shake bad at all but it never did with my steels. If it goes away above 70mph am i right in thinking it could be a balancing issue? I really hope its not a buckled wheel.

its most likely balancing and or tracking. Just get them properly balanced first, then go for a drive. If the problem is still present go back to the garage and tell them its still vibrating and see if they have any suggestions-they can check for a buckled wheel when they balance them.

Sounds like a balance problem, tracking won't affect it in the slightest. A wheel balancer is only as good as the monkey using it. Try swapping the wheels front to rear and see if that has any effect.

Finally got the balancing done and now i have a still steering wheel! £10 sorted (y)

I was worried that maybe one of the wheels was buckled as there second hand. I've experienced a buckled wheel before on my old Citroen ZX and Ford Focus. I had it balanced a few times but that never sorted it. I know its always a risk buying second hand wheels but i've been lucky with this set :)

It's not all good news, I've noticed that my steering wheel has a slight wobble at low speed. Today I went back to my local tyre place and I have 2 buckled wheels

. The tyre fitter put the worse wheel on the rear of the car. I'm going to see someone on Saturday about getting them straightened. Am I the unluckiest person on this forum.....?

Oh and also my steering wheel is now way off centre, so alignment is the next job!

I went to get my wheels looked at this morning but they cannot repair buckled alloys, only bent. My wheels are buckled from the centre. Anyway I went to Fiat to get a quote for a new alloy wheel they want £330

So my plan is to buy another one off ebay and I am just going to replace the badly bucked one. I'll then have the minor damaged wheel put back on the rear and a new unbuckled wheel on the front. That's the plan
