Another Stilo with the dreaded wiper linkage failure. Based on similar experiences with a Punto, there are three possible remedies:

1. Replace the linkages.

2. For a clip over the linkage joints (available on eBay)

3. Source a new wiper linkage assembly with motor

Has anyone tried 2 and if so, how have you found using those clips?

And if I opt for 3, where's the best place to order one from? Best price to date was £80 plus £25 delivery to Dublin.

I went for option 1 (one) when my wiper linkages went and got hold of them from ebay roughly round the £20 price a lot cheaper than option 3 (three), think you will find some info in the guides section for Stilo..I recall also from reading a thread on here when mine went that someone also had success with just using the Clips to hold the origenal linkage arm in place as they are only push fit items and wear after time

Hi Skyperr,

On our Stilo we fixed the broken wiper linkage by welding a small bushing onto the bottom of the link that actually broke. It's a straight forward and a quite permanent fix.

all the best wishes for fixing yours !

I tried replacement linkages on my previous Punto with almost fatal results. They fell off at speed on the motorway in heavy rain, despite being fitted in accordance with the manufacturers instructions. That's why I'm minded to buy a whole linkage if I can get one that isn't priced OTT

It depends how are yours broken. Usually the joint where the two arm pieces connect fails due to wear and tear.
Ours just fell apart it was so warn.

It had been put back together, and the little casing of the joint weld shut. Now there is now way for it to come apart ... nor can I take it apart :D but the point in the fix was to make it quick and last. I'm not planning on taking it apart any time soon.

And even if it would break in any other way, which is hard to imagine how else can that piece of metal break, I would in the worst case just scrap the lot and by a new linkage.

Our linkage welding fix was quick and cheep ... free to be precise. And it holds now for over a year without a flaw, in rain and snow at high speeds on the freeway. I don't seem to notice any flaw in it.

Hope you can fix yours to!
