Is it on or off as standard when you turn the key? I had to take the wife out at 4.30am and the roads were white. Thick frost kind of white. The car was all over the place and must be the worst car I have ever driven on frost. Now, I am presuming the light on the button I press means on but could it come on when the car reaches a certain temperature and if so is it possible to switch it off again. I would rather have control than a computer I would never trust.
 
Cheers Gadge. You are correct its on. I just went out for a jolly and switched it off before setting off. Now the roads are not frosty but greasy and I was deliberately throwing the car around and I must say I find ASR Crap :D I was getting a better feeling of the car and more in control. Funny thing when I was out earlier in the frost and I was using the ASR button there was no difference so I am wondering if the wheels need to be not rotating for it to switch on and off properly. I don't know if this is physiological but I also felt the rear suspension was softer with it off. My rear tends to be solid as its all quite new but with it off it felt more floatty.
 
Tur s on automatically when car is fired up! The light on the asr button is lit when the system is switched off to warn you. Try putting your foot down on the ice and it should kill the revs.
 
ASR is not full traction control, it only operates on the front driven wheel(s) if the ABS system detects front wheel spin during acceleration. It's only function is to apply the brake on the spinning wheel(s) and reduce engine torque.

Warning light 21 should illuminate or flash when the ASR system intervenes.

Full traction control, known as VDC (Vehicle Dynamic Control), was an optional extra.

Expanding on that though, only brakes the required wheel if one is spinning and the other isn't, if both are spinning it doesn't brake any of them and instead kills the revs. This is how it works on the Bravo's, I assume its the same on the Stilo :confused:
