Hi guys, anybody have any hints, tips or horror stories for changing pads disks & calipers on a 3dr dynamic?
Need to change mine at the weekend and after reading some terrible experiences on here, would rather not have to fork out for another new set!

pretty easy if your diy inclined.
You will need a kit for winding back the pistons, it is possible without but will take you an age,
also loosen the handbrake cable before hand!!! you will damage it if you dont.
Another thing to remember - the calipers wind different directions, i think its clockwise o/s side (uk) and anticlock on the n/s

Hi. You have probably already fixed the brakes on your car. I will however share my experiences if someone else needs help.

My rear brake was bindning on the rear right side (passenger outside UK) . the pads were gone and had to replace pads and discs. Had to identify cause of binding. Looked at the sliderpins. They were OK and lubricated with No corrosion. The cause was the caliper piston siezing in the bore. I got a piston tool set to screw them out. It wouldnt budge at all. Had to manually pull the handbrake lever with a wrench to force it out. I disconnected the caliper from the brakehose. Brake fluid will come out! The cause was corrosion inside the groove where the rubber sealer sits. Had to clean and scrape all of it out. It is aluminium so the corrosion is white. I also moved the brake lever until it moved freely since it was hard to move. Note that you need to remove all traces of the old rubber cover. It has a spring tjat holds it in place. It came off and sat in the groove. Make sure to remove it. Put new sealer in and new dust cover on the bore and screwed it in with brake lubricant. Don't Use any petroleum based lubricants on rubber as it will swell and seize again. I connected everything with new pads and discs. The brake fluid had emptied so had to fill it up and blead the brakes. Did it on all brakes. I replaced the bolts with new ones from the pad kit with thread lock on. I didnt replace all of the rubber parts since i couldnt find a guide on how to dismantle that kind of brake caliper. It has been a few months now and the brakes work as they should.

Hope it helps someone that might havet a similar problem and doesnt want to buy a new caliper. Make sure to clean the groove, bore and piston well. The tiniest residue in the groove and i couldnt get the piston in. Had to clean it many times. And use break cleaner!
