Been doing a bit of quiet deliberation and I think I'm going to move on to bigger and certainly better things if all goes well. I've been offered a better contract at work, just in time for my insurance renewal and, by the looks of things, I can get insurance on the Abarths for a little less than what my 1.2's insurance was last year! I'm looking at around £700 which I think isn't too bad considering one nasty claim behind me and two years NCB and 4 years holding a license? Anyway the Tjet Stilo idea sounded good but I've so far failed to find a suitable donor and I'm kind of choking to get back on the road! I'm thinking in the next month or so if the right one cones along then I'm going to go for the 20v Abarth, Selespeed or not I'm unsure yet :p So some of you may be interested to know I'll consequently be listing all the interior stuff and exterior stuff in the classifieds section soon to raise a bit of cash towards my next purchase!

What I have available; Full cream leather interior (seats, cards, armrest), 11-button steering wheel (CN+ compatible version), digital AC controls and heater matrix (plug and play over standard system), two CN+ units, set of normal Abarth dials + a set of Abarth Selespeed dials (has the large multicolour LCD display in the middle), pair of Abarth sideskirts, set of Blade alloys (need tyres), set of 15" alloys w/ good tyres (suitable for Punto also), Stilo 1.8 GSR induction kit, front splitter, cruise control stalk, some other things I think but will confirm full list in classifieds!

That along with two engine blocks, flywheels and crankshafts along with the scrap value of the car I think I've had a lot of money just sitting on my drive for several months!

Anyways I'll be very sad to see my 3-year pride slowly vanish but I hope to replace her very soon!

PM if anyone is I interested in any of the above

thats good news dude... but also a bad thing for the stilo.... if you do sell some stuff, i would be interested in a couple of bits.... the splitter, maybe the blades. does your climate heater fan work? if it does i would be interested in that too

cheers

Ill just be a greedy and ask straight away ;D

"digital AC controls and heater matrix (plug and play over standard system)"
Is it really just plug and play? Will i need the wires under the front console in order for digital AC to work?

Yeah!! Go for it buddy (y) you won't be disappointed :)

My only recommendation is to go for a manual if you can (04 onwards) if you want to avoid gearbox woes - although a well maintained selespeed one should last you well enough.

Shame you can't sell the 1.2 as a whole car as you've worked so hard on it.

Seen this one Mark?

Worth it for the seats and steering wheel alone!

Never though you were in these aftermarket mods Yellow?

That's volxstu's Schumacher No. 001

It sure is Dave, hes had the car on sale for ages now and is an absolute silly bugger for trying to sell it on as he has spent over 10k on that car, he even fitted brand new Eibach and Bilstein GP suspension

I will try and convince him to keep it, not sure how that will work out....

Yep straight swap, the digital heater matrix has all the wiring in place and plugs into the same wiring plug as the manual AC near the brake servo under the dash, obviously the pain is in removing the whole dash to change it over :p

You're the first to mention the splitter and blades so if you decide you want them then they're yours ;) yeah the heater fan works, forgot to add I have the old manual heater matrix and controls available as well.

The idea of having a semi-automatic for the first time is tempting plus my best mate's dsg golf doesn't help :p But I would prefer the manual version, it's actually cheaper for me to insure a Schumi GP than it is a Selespeed...by nearly £300!

I could sell it on as a 'project'? Few hours swapping the engine and a couple of tyres it would be a great car, I just hope when (if) I sell all the toys that I can find an Abarth that has them all again :)

That's what I've been eyeing up myself! Insurance is only £20 more per month than what my Stilo was.

Looks like the leather interior and blades will be in a new Stilo soon, didn't take long to go lol

Still have two CN+ units, two Abarth dials, one being the Selespeed version, digital climate control system and leather 11-button steering wheel for CN+. For FIRE 1242/ 1368 16v Stilo/ Punto/ Panda/ Cento owners out there I have a decat 4-branch 4-2-1 manifold as well :)

Those quotes are not bad at all (y)

The only thing i can suggest is, if you are tempted to go for the 20v turbo do make sure to have some extra cash in the bank after purchasing it. These are old cars and are now becoming really rare to find in good condition and "un-abused". I have read on the UKcoupe forum that many people have gone and purchased some of these awesome cars, some reasonable and some cheap and within weeks the repairs bills pile up due to either poor maintenance, wear and tear or just bad luck.

These cars are a one of a kind and for me the best history about them is the legendary rally car engine that was used in the earlier models from a Lancia Delta, only bad point about that engine is that they are apparently more prone to problems than the later twin cam 20v turbo engine. :)

My girlfriends brother works for a good local garage so any work I'd need done I can get a good price on, just need to find myself a decent one :) Giving myself a deadline of April 14th - my 23rd birthday :D

From what I've read so far on the coops is that I should be looking for one with good condition bodywork and check for rust in the boot and underside (subframes) and if I can find one with a recent cam belt job that a worry of my chest for a few years? My budget will be about 2-3k probably 2.5k minus insurance. Can't find any for sale in Scotland, most are 2-300 miles away so if any problems arise I'll probably know during the return journey lol

Personally what would you go for out the bunch?
