I have owned my 53 plate 1.6 Stilo for about 18 months and it is running great (just returned from a 1000 mile round trip to the Isle of Skye without problem) but it's not particularly smooth when cold. Once it's warmed up slightly it runs perfect but while it's cold it's as if it's not running rich enough. I have the diagnistics software but that does not show any faults. Does anyone know of any sensors etc that specifically controls cold running? Is there one device I should try changing or testing?

What do you mean by not running right? Do you mean low revs jumping or loe idle to the point of stalling?

I my case, when the car is cold, the revs are not steady, are below normal and the engine is a little shaky, after a couple of minutes when the temperature of the engine go up a bit, everything runs normal.

If the timing belt was changed recently and was done poorly that might cause that.

Mine is not quite the same. When stone cold, such as in winter conditions, the tickover is slightly erratic with revs increasing and dropping very slightly. This lasts just for the first few seconds, usually by the time I am off the driveway the tickover is steady. Then until it is fully warmed up it will hesitate when under light load unless I rev it more than should be necassary. If I get the revs wrong it will die for a second then pick up again. After about a mile it is running perfectly. I think whatever sensor or device that controls cold running must be at fault.
