The guy I bought the Abarth from told me "Make sure you don't lose that small blue key. It will cost you over 300 quid for a new one. If you lose the ignition key you'll need this one."

OK, fair enough. But when I looked at it, it doesn't even resemble the ignition key. It doesn't fit the ignition and only fits the fuel cap (which somehow doesn't even lock). It isn't flat like the ignition key, but grooved, like a normal, old car key.

Is he right? Or leading me up the garden path once more?

For a new key fob your looking at over 100 quid for a new one but if this is only for the fuel cap then I doubt it. My Stilo doesn't have a key-lockable fuel cap, the fuel flap locks with the central locking like every other Stilo out there but an extra lock on the cap itself I'm not too sure? Even at that just remove it and fit a normal fuel cap without a lock and your worry free

So there isn't a "Master Key" of sorts?

could be a "Valet Key" ??

Not heard of one. Is it the original locking cap? Mine is tethered to the car & uses the same key as the locks etc.

I think he was talking jibba jabba. It maybe an emergency key.
Send me a picture of the key and I'll let you know

Stilo don't have locking filler flaps as standard, only locking fuel cap normally. Is this not what yours has got

We supply a working none remote key for the 500's. £65.

my old Tipo's had them ,
opened front doors and worked ign. switch ,
But didn't open the boot..as you say service / valet use key.

however this just sounds like a filler cap key - they were always stubbly little fella's..
back in the 80's / 90's they were aftersales options..so were NOT the same lock as the ign/door keys ( normally),;)
