Hi i was wondering if you could help me, im planning a project for next year, without going into it too much, are the 1.9 jtd mounts the same as the 1.9 multijet mounting points?

what is the main difference between the two engines?

thanks again

I thought as much looking to replace my punto's petrol engine with a diesel

Why?

You do realise there is a hell of a lot more than just an engine swap required in changing a car from one fuel to another.

You'll need a Punto donor for the fuel tank, fuel lines, ECU's etc etc.

Really isn't worth the agro and cost TBH.

Not to mention the insurance nightmare :(

Yes I do realise its more than getting the engine and plonking it in. Why would I need a punto doner fuel lines I can get made up. I realise I'll need engine mounts and front end offa punto 1.9 which is easy to get/pick up. As for ecu I'll be useing the stilo one presumably. And insurance already checked and its cheaper for me to insure my punto with a non standard engine replacement, insurance told of everything than it is to insure my 1.4 8v next year.

Also on a side note why is there this stigma of engine swaps? Old cars I get, hardly any electronics = easier to do = less to go wrong. But why new cars? Lupo guys been doing it for years.

There is no stigma, its just you've obviously not looked into the depth of it yet, no offence intended, as you're going to have to re-shell the Stilos entire electrics into the Punto I suspect as I doubt a Stilo engine ECU will talk to a Punto body computer for example.

This means instrument panel might need to be taken over also. In addition to this Stilo body computer and canbus system speaks to Door ECUs, not even sure if a Punto has these? and so on and so forth.

You'll need Diesel fuel pump, normally specific to the tank, hense then needing a Punto fuel tank as the Stilo's won't fit your Punto.

Me also, not the engine swap more the canbus system and ecu swap, ive seen guys pulling their hair out on things like key recode, imobilizer, instrument cluster swaps and even just swapping one ecu off an identicle car to their cars and doesnt seem easy.

Don't let me put you off, it'll be great fun, but just don't hope it'll be a 1 or 2 day job :(

No i knew it was going to be a week/
Two week job.

I see what you mean. There's 'ecu kits' on eBay from a 1.9 go, you get key, transponder and body ecu and engine ecu
