Hi my heater has stopped working on number but will work on 1 and 2 but not 3 and sometimes not on any. turned it on the other day and had a smell of burning. Tried a new resisitor but its still the same. could it be the heater controls?Are the controls specific for certain years as I know they changed the motor wiring, my car is an 06. Any help appreciated. thanks

Hey everyone, just posting on behalf of my dad.
He has taken the heater switch panel out of the dash today and found the following...




What could have caused this to happen? We think it may have been the resistor failing? We've put a new one in, just in case.
But if someone could shed any light that would be brilliant?
