:)My passenger side heated seat stopped working the other week. Its happened before and its usually a broken wire that causes (fixed by soldering it back together before) it so after doing a little search on ebay I got a new pair of retrofit ones and replaced the old ones on both sides. These were only £25 and are 2 stage ones so can be a little more comfortable rather than just hot :D. Took about 30 mins per seat to do the job. It was a piece of cake. They warm up quicker too and dont turn of after 20 mins as the standard ones do. Well worth swapping now the colder weather is on the way. I am thinking about getting another pair and putting them in the back:D. I am just not too sure how the leather covers come off of the back seats. would be a nice addition for the rear seat passengers though.:)

been looking into retrofitting to my fronts for a while now do you have a link for the kits?

Hi All,

I've found a link myself and realise this is probably worth doing whilst i look at sorting out some of the cushion wear on the drivers seat, so I'm wondering, where can you draw the power from? Is it possible to take it from the cigarette lighter wiring for example?

The replacement pads i've seen, say they are 25Watts each so assuming i did both front, then it would draw 50W through the extg wiring to the cigarette lighter (assuming both on at the same time)

As i've seen heated seat cushions that plug into the cigarette lighter i assume this isn't a problem, but figure it's best worth checking!

Any help appreciated.

50W at 12v is just over 4 Amps.

The cigar lighter fuse is 10 Amps, so it should be ok on that front. Problem may be that as the cigar lighter is only designed to be drawing current for a few seconds, the wiring from the fuse to the lighter may not be capable of carrying 4 Amps for more than a few seconds without overheating. You would need to measure the wiring cross sectional area to be sure of its current carrying capacity.
