Ok guys , ive been talking to a guy thats tunes about 99% of the local cars and hes mentioned to me that he could map my stilo ,,
would i need a uprated clutch on it ? and what else would people suggest to "uprate" before the map? ill be nocking the cat out before the map goes on to make it breath easyer
the map adds 35 bhp and 70 nms torques ,

Ive not heard many 8v jtd suffering with clutches lately(searched and there have been a fair few slipping after remap)as long as you dont go mad with torque (seems like 250ftlbs or 340nm mentioned by some who had slipping)as long as clutch is in good nick if on its last legs a remap might finish it off quicker.
You want car as good as possible really no issue or faults.
Probably worth while cleaning the map sensor and also the maf sensor, make sure has a new air filter in and maybe even look at oil and filter change for a good fully synthetic( turbo will be working harder/hotter)
Im assuming he will test drive and tweek if necessary, in a high gear flooring throttle around 2000 revs should make clutch slip if its going to.
If it does ask him to reduce torque a bit or save for clutch.
Also probably look towards some uprated brake pads, you will find yourself braking harder than before
If you use the new power.
Also what you gonna do with egr?
If mapping it out/ disabled , you probably want to give it a clean to make sure its fully closed or fit a blanking plate for a couple of quid.
Personally id blank it.
If the mapper is willing to he can write the torque to come in more like a petrol and increase a bit more slowly rather than the punch at 2000 which is what makes clutches slip.

Theres std car
Tuning box
And remap on there
The remap i actually have less torque than std or boxed but by 2250-2500revs has increased to more than and the increase is smooth no sudden spikes.
This helps say clutch and drivetrain and. I just hold the gears longer and drive more like a petrol.
Unfortunatly its the masive torque increase that makes them feel so powerfull after box or map.

are you getting a brintech james?

nahh brintec would guote +89 bhp and 587 torqes on low boost

thanks for all that info sussexa, Its hyst had a service not so long ago , its got a Clean K and N pannel filter on
brakes wise , im waiting to mot time (november) and if it passes im gona buy some drilled and groved brakes all round with uprated pads
EGR is blanked off allready as i was having problems with it

its just i fancy getting a remap to try and get better mpgs , while at work , i did consider a tuning box , but had one on my 306 and it didnt do much but got a box on my dads multi and its Awsome (y)

i did a run from manchester to Carlisle sat around 85-90 most of the way and got 50 mpg (y)
