hi my ns inner cv joint is on the way out ive tried auto shops but none seem to be able to get one so im just wondering if any one knows where i can get a rebuild kit for it.cheers

I know the one you mean, it comes in two parts - the part that comes out of the gearbox is called the pot joint which is basically a hollowed out cup with three large grooves that are machined into it. The second part of the inner CV joint is a three bearing assembly that fits on the end of the half shaft (the three needle bearing races fit into the aforementioned machined grooves). When the bearings/halfshaft is slotted into the pot joint the whole thing is wrapped up with a rubber gaiter filled with grease.

Unfortunately you can't buy the whole assembly as one unit - I know this as I had to replace mine a few years back. The pot joint is about £350 and the half shaft about £375 ....... Luckily I only needed the halfshaft :bang: if anythings worn its most likely to be the halfshaft. I tried really hard to find someone to recondition my old one but no one wanted to know so I had to stump up for a new one from fiat although there's nothing special about it so I can't see why anyone can't just buy a replacement bearing assembly

I have a question.My Stilo is 2002 model and the inner cv joint is about to be replaced tomorrow.The Garage said there are two kinds of inner cv joints,one like tripod or something the other is cuplike thing...?The tripod is 2times more expensive then the cuplike thing?!How can i understand which one my car has?

All 2.4 Stilos up to 2003 have the same design of driveshafts. There is only one type for the left side of the car, and another type for the right side of the car.

Your car has both. The tripod thingy fits into the cup like thingy. The tripod thingy is probably the part that needs replacing just like mine did. The reason it's soooo more expensive is that it comes complete with the drive shaft I.e you can't buy the tripod thingy just on its own (well you certainly couldn't over here in England) so you need the whole lot - the outer one aswell
