Hi I'm a newbie iv just bought a 1.4 16v active stilo and the problem I have is when I start from cold iv noticed the car clutch judders a bit iv only had the car 1day I bought from a dealer but no warranty givern. The car has only done 40,000 miles and 1owner from new with full service history, but I would like to know how can I stop the judder is it the clutch is on the way out? The gears r smooth as anything I have no problems from warm at all only from cold any suggestions people please being a newbie. I love the car but I just want to cure the clutch judder.

I'd have to think about this, but if you say it does it when cold, not when warm, then id be checking the clutch fork mechanism. If you were to look at your clutch, it attaches to a long fork mechanism - this might be sticking when cold....

You dont say what year your car is but for info we has a clutch judder on our 1.4 (2004) and it was replaced under warranty at about 20k and two years less one day. There was no quibble when we asked for the replacement, which at the time made me think there may have been a known weakness.

Hi 850kd, it a 2005 55reg fiat stilo I bought the car from a independent garage, the car judders in reverse and in 1st gear, from cold start. Did having the clutch replaced on your 2004 stilo fix ur problem ? Thanks for ur advise.

My gfs mk2b punto does this all the time in reverse and 1st! Mines fine but let us know what fixes it!

Hi I'll keep you posted if I get it fixed I'm hoping it's just a clutch replacement as I only bought the car a few days away.

Hi thanks for that advise I think all I need is new clutch as it is biting quite high up so I'll get it replaced, soon as I can. Apart from my clutch I'm happy with the stilo I bought.

Humm my gfs clutch feels fine and never slips. Clutch test is good aswell.

Hi peeps, I took my fiat stilo to the garage regarding my clutch judder the garage has said they could not find a fault and the clutch had performed correctly on all three test drives in the 24hr period they had the car. However when I got into my car this afternoon to go to work guess what the clutch judder happened any ideas please as I'm getting to the point where I wish I never bought this car. Any ideas ??
