Hi everyone I'm completely new to forums so hope this goes through ok. I bought a 1.6 Estate last week with 59, 000 miles on it. It has quickly developed a knock/rattle from the front end which was only just noticeable when I test drove it and now seems to be getting worse quite quickly. The noise is non existent when idling, only when in gear and seems worst in 1st and 2nd gear. It did originally dissapear by the time the car got to 4th but can now be heard slightly in that also. The noise is also non existent in reverse and increases in speed when accelerating. It also seems at it's worst when a small amount of pressure is put on the throttle. The noise completely dissapears when changing between gears. I'd massively appreciate any ideas what this might be as I'm eager to try and get it fixed sooner rather than later and really want to start enjoying my first Fiat as much as possible :). Thanks. Justin

You might find its your drop links on suspension arms/antiroll bar common failure on stilo's, if it is its a cheap fix and there's a good guide on this forum for how to change them.

Thanks a lot for replying mate-the knock I'm talking about is not intermittent, so its repetitive in time and matches the rpm. Would the drop link only make that noise when it was in gear yeah?

i think it could be lower g/box mount
(2) underneath the car at the back of the gearbox it bolts on the large flat subframe/crossmember

certainly worth checking, it would give symptoms of noise in fwd gears and not rev too!
