Hi everyone

I just thought I would say hello as I've just bought an 1.6 active sport in black/dark gray? I've been on the forum a while now having had a multipla, doblo, cinq sporting which I still have but up for sale and a alfa 156 if that counts?

Really pleased with it so far, it has 90k on the clock, runs well and has had its cam belt done and the body work is in good condition, nothing a good polish wont sort out.

One thing I have noticed when going over speed bumps it sometimes feels like the tires are flat mainly at the back as the wheels are making a banging sound against the raised humps? Is this normal with this car as the tires are pretty low profile or could it be a sign the suspension may need looking at? Tires pressures front and back are 2.3.

When I get a chance to give it a good clean and wax I will post some shinny pics.

Hello and welcome to the forum. We're all a friendly bunch on here (y)

The banging sound you describe could either be drop links or most likely the rear axle bushes. Mine were the same when they started to fail, banging over bumps then they got worse and started banging on any road surface. Also like I said it could be your drop links, they just tend to make a bang sound over bumps, mine did.

Hi Phil

Thanks for that I think that might be beyond my capability so may have to take it to a garage. Did you do your own or take it to a mechanic and if so any idea of what to expect price wise!

The most I've done is the fron discs and pads on my cinq as they're pretty straight forward with it no having abs, but I'm guessing the rear brakes would have to come off for that?

Lots of daft questions to follow haha.

Thanks

I had my mechanic to do the work, he had to lower the rear axle to fit the new bushes. I got my bushes from http://www.shop4parts.co.uk you'll have to have a look for the price for yours as my car is a JTD. Your local Fiat dealer will also get them for you but I found them to be quite lot dearer than Shop 4 Parts. My mechanic charged me £80 but I don't know what a garage would charge.

As for the drop links they are a simple job, its a bolt off, bolt on job but I got my mechanic to do that for me as well as I needed a couple of other jobs doing.

Hope this helps.

Phil
