The remoate central locking suddenly stopped working on my 03 Stilo (co-incidenally around the same time my 2 year old discovered the key), so I can open the doors by putting the key in the lock but pressing the buttons on the fob does nothing. I've changed the battery in the fob and it still doesn't work.

Is there a quick fix for this? Do I need a new key? If so, how much are they?

Check red LED light on fob flashes when button pressed to confirm battery is functioning in fob correctly first.
If light does flash then may well need re-programming ..many threads on this if you search, can be done with registerd version of multiecuscan software and correct adapter cable, or take to dealer, either way you will need to add the 5 digit electronic security code to the price but still cheaper than buying a new fob which will still need the cost of re-programming to car security system

Thats exactly the same problem i have with my keyfob and the red LED flashes. Any idea on how much it costs to get re-programmed mhowse? Purely out of interest as i'm in no rush to get it fixed because my spare key is fully functional.

No idea how much dealer would charge but I used Mscan software to do mine, you can get the 5 digit electronic code over the counter from fiat just take log book and some form of identity and costs approx £45 varies dealer to dealer, then only takes 10 minutes with a few button pressing of the mscan software and job done, a dealer would charge for labour plus the price of the electronic code plus take longer while they faff about trying to tell you how complicated it is not.just depends how customer friendly your nearest fiat shop is ,so all round is better to get the software and make use of all the other functions it has.
Also if you then have the electronic security code a lot of stilo's have a bypass procedure if the immobiliser plays up to get out of trouble so a useful number to have.
