i am having more problems with the JTD and I'm losing all love for the car. there is no power at all with the car no errors at all so started doing some tests and unplugged the MAF which did make it a little better but there was lots of smoke coming from the back of the car is this right or is this some other problem maybe EGR? any advice would really help as if i cant fix this the car will be gone

Sounds like you need to either clean out the EGR or at least blank it off to see if the is the culprit.

IMHO it probably is!

sounds like the MAF is at fault if things improve with it unplugged - means the ecu is using default values. New MAF, but also as suggested do the EGR first before spending the money on a new MAF - either clean it, or blank it - when cleaning you may find the solenoid is sticking or broken in which case no amount of cleaning will help and all you can do then is replace the solenoid/entire EGR or blank it.

best of luck, dont lose love for the car, as soon as you sort this very common issue (common with all cars i might add) then you may love the car again!(y)

i did the EGR this weekend and was not bad at all but still gave it a good clean and the solenoid is working fine so looks like the MAF is dead got one coming from the same car i got the turbo and inter cooler off lets hope it fixes the issue then i can get on with the rest of the problems

Right help need again people new MAF on there now but now car seems fine other than one problem is it wont rev past 3100 it is almost like a safe mode is on do i need to do anything to get the car working

Can u feel the boost coming in at any point? If yes then its not in limp/safe mode. I think eml is on when in limp mode anyways

If it wont rev past 3100 u may have a cat/exhaust blockage of sorts. I have issues with my egr too, havnt blocked it off properly, when i rev it up past 3000rpm im usually on boost but around 3000 it keeps on revving round but feels like boost stops. I recently had boost valve codes pop up tho so im still to investigate. Will urs just not rev past 3100 at all?

yes it feels like limp mode is on but there are no errors and it just wont go passed 3100 at all i have check egr and that is working MAF is replaced. with the MAF unplugged the car runs but lots of smoke and really poor mpg

yes it goes past 3100 but a lot of smoke comes out and very poor mpg. I currently have the battery disconnected to try and clear the ECU of everything and see what happens then.

Have you checked for boost leaks after turbo, smoke with maf unplugged may be lack of air and boost.
Airfilter ok
Have you cleaned map sensor?
You need to really fully blank egr just to prove its not losing boost down there just as a test, remove straight away if problems persist or most would advise leaving blanked.

Right have done a test with EGR unplugged and made no difference to the car going to check the air filter tomorrow night and see if it is ok should be as was only change about 3K ago

I think you have misunderstood, not egr unplugged.
It needs physically blanking off with a blanking plate off ebay or similar(incase you like it and keep it in only a couple of quid for a plate)
An egr not fully closing will bleed boost same as a split boost hose you just wont find it.
And then when off boost or part throttle it may be letting burnt gasses back in and bypassing maf so injecting less fuel potentially.
Map sensors right by egr 5 mins to remove spray with carb cleaner and refit, i do mine probably twice a year as a routine.
Also while youre checking out air filter have a good look at the turbo inlet hose for holes or splits between turbo and maf for leaks, and the breather hose where it joins and especially the vapour trap under the airfilter box, a few stilos have had them break off leaving unfiltered air bypassing the maf.

I cleaned my MAP sensor yesterday to see if it would solve my problem, no joy, 3000rpm i get eml and limp mode. Also discovered its very difficult to rev past 3000 myself, so its prob the same issue, tho i dunno why ur not getting eml.... Does it come on before u start the car? My money is on the boost control valve... Gonna have to hoke mine out and resite on the side of the battery as suggested, then itll be an easy replacement.

Did u ever get this sorted? I fitted a new boost valve but made no difference. I still cant rev past 3000rpm and wen i get near it i get eml and code P0236. I unplugged the maf which now allows me to rev past to about 3500rpm, but still feels like not much pull after 3000rpm. Does tjis sound like the maf at fault or a boost leak or turbo wastegate stuck or something? Or do u reckon map sensor has had it?? If i keep revs below 3000 light stays off and i have boost and drives well.... No whooshy sounds, map sensor cleaned, egr blanked off with 2 plates, and new boost valve fitted... Any ideas???
