Hi everyone!

I recently bit the bullet a bought myself a Fiat Stilo 2.4 20v Abarth in Silver.
Firstly I'm amazed at the value for money, secondly it goes like a rocket with another rocket up its arse!

It's a 2003 semi auto in silver, I've only had it a week and I love it already.
pics attached.

Currently it is has just had a service and a thorough check over by local engineer.

As usual it needed some new bits replaced etc but one part, he said, is REALLY hard to get hold of unless you go to Fiat for the part.
He said the "exhaust joint after the first Cat" is loose/blowing, and it needs a new one. So my main query is:

Does anyone here know what he is on about and what the part is specifically called or a part number? I've looked on ebay (where else!?) but as I don't know what I'm looking for exactly, I have no idea if it is the right bit I need.

Aside from that the other parts needed can be replaced easily (battery clamp, drive seal, gearbox plate/cover).

So thanks for looking and thanks in advance for any advice you can supply on this mysterious part.

Aj

Just to add, I have searched the Stilo forums and noticed you recommend a Ss exhaust e.g. From Longlife.
Would getting a cat back Ss exhaust sort my issue, amongst the other benefits of it being Ss?

Hi Aj, car looks really good mate, well done in picking up one so nice. Im no expert on the Abarth, but it stands to reason that if the part you need is hard to get from Fiat (and expensive) then go for an aftermarket system. ON a car like yours, you will benefit from it, and if you shop around the cost might turn out reasonable.(y)

Cheers, I will find a local exhaust centre and get their opinion.
Otherwise I think a new SS exhaust is on the cards!

Thanks for the kind comments. The car has a few 'london" marks on it, aside from that it is not bad for £1200.

Hi again, I called Kwik-**** and they told me to call Fiat...

... I spoke to local Fiat dealer, who then told me to call an Abarth dealer as they are "not allowed to deal with their parts".

... Called Maidstone Abarth and the part that they (think, as I'm still not 100% sure) I need will cost £123+vat + labour. So I could be looking at £250 all in.

The part that Keith from Abarth told me about is connected to the first Cat using a "2 bolt flange with a oval gasket". He could not give me a part number (company policy).

So my last question is.... Will a SS cat back exhaust be fitted INCLUDE this part. If so I'm just gonna fork out for one instead of something that will no doubt need changing again after a few years.

Again thanks in advance to all of you for your help and I hope I can return the favour someday.

Lastly if any of you live in Sussex there is a Fiat Stilo JTD 2004 in Eastergate Scapyard (near chichester), in case you need any bits.

Ok well I'm not surprised kwik fit didn't help - I wouldn't trust them to make a sandwich :D but I am surprised with the response from the fiat dealer though as its not technically an "abarth" like the 500s and puntos you get today. For the stilo the "abarth" was just a model version to mark out the sports version of the range like "active" or "dynamic" and is still a fiat and not an abarth so should be well in their capability to source and fit that part

And a sports exhaust is a great idea! Of the shelf exhausts don't go that far to the engine though so you'll have to have one made up from someone like longlife or custom chrome and they well may have a flexi pipe? And all in probably won't cost much more than the abarth quote you had

Well I'm pretty sure I'm getting an SS system from Longlife. Thanks though.

Ok so it took a few phone calls but I got a quote, so I was thinking of requesting a sticky goes up with the cost of the most common mods and tips?

The price for a cat back ss system is...

... £499

So I've applied for it on finance... Fingers crossed.

They said it's due to how long the pipework is, (starts at the first Cat just after the manifold) and due to some of the awkward bends the pipe will need to get over the axle.
Anyone else got any suggestions?
Note: I can't afford to buy second hand (as much as I'd like to) as I don't have the cash on me. Hence me going with finance.

I've gone to PowerFlow exhausts to see what quote they can provide me as they are nearer (Brighton) and also do finance.

Length is a rubbish excuse. I've just had a friend pay £350 all in for a full setup on his series 3 land rover 88, and they done a load for him for his engine bay air intakes etc, and we're talking pipe with a big enough girth to shove your wrist up! (y)

I can only go on what I'm quoted. So I'm looking somewhere else.
