Hi there,

This hasn't been a major issue so far but its just been expensive, I have had to put in around 3.5 to 4 litres of oil in my car every month. Something isn't right but i can't work out what it is. There used to be a bit of an oil leak but since i have changed the oil filter i haven't noticed any patches of oil on the ground. Also i have not noticed any blue smoke (or any smoke what so ever) out of the exhaust so running out of things to point the finger at.

If anyone has any ideas or has experienced something similar then i would love to hear from you. Oil is pretty expensive no days so don't really want to be doing this for much longer :bang: lol.

Many thanks,

Toby.

Do you have the undertray still fitted if you do it would be best to remove and look further for leak , if your losing that quantity of oil you certainly be able to see any telling leakage points or spillage marks left on ground, with undertray removed put some old newspaper down if possible and check for leaks that way should be some signs left overnight , also how are you checking for smoke from exhaust if you could get someone to follow you or someone you trust who insured to drive your car while you follow in another you might see something they do not , but as you say that amount oil loss should be very noticable one way another.

3.5 to 4 litres!!!! That's as much as an oil change!! how does the car run? Lumpy or smooth?

Haha tell me about it. My car gets nice new oil every month!! lol.

It does run alright but does feel a little jerky as you boot it. It also has an unsteady idle. This is starting to make me suspect a blocked breather pipe that is pressurizing the sump.

Once a month doesn't help. How much use is this?

I am doing around a 1000 miles in a month.

I do have the undertray on at the moment but I cleaned it when i did a service so i haven't seen any oil on it since. I will probably try that though as i will be able to tell for sure. In terms of smoke, I have never seen the smoke in my mirror or when starting it and no one has ever mentioned it to me before, again i will try what you suggest and see if someone can follow me.

Cheers
