Hi everyone,
I'm having a bit of a problem with the sunroof of my fiat stilo 02 1.6.
One day when i opened the sunroof, it would not close and then after reading some posts, i was advised to press and hold that sunroof switch and this worked.
However, now i am trying to open it again and it just won't open, it makes all sort of noises when i turn the switch in the "open" position and press and hold it.

I have read that greasing it might help but i have absolutely no clue how to open it. Can anyone please point me in the right direction.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Regards,
Di

Hi there,

I (touch wood) have never had any issues with my skywindow so not entirely sure but I think there is a manual open and close inside the control box if you remove the case. Im pretty sure that it talks over it in the user manual but dont have one with me at the moment so can't be sure. might be worth looking through to see what it says.

you are right Toby. Drop the cover/controls, and in there should be a little tool you use to manually wind the windows BUT, be extremely careful, don't force it. If it sticks just try to check each pane for dirt and grime, spray out any crap and try again. good luck!

Cheers guys.

I will try that today and let you know how i get on.

Hi again,
I have tried to manually open the sunroof as per your instruction but it looks like something is blocking it. I didn't want to force it too much, in case i damage it even further.

Do you guys think i should unscrew the part where the motor is and see if something is blocking it there?

Your advise your would be very much appreciated.

Thanks,
D

That might be an idea, i would try to open up any parts that wouldn't affect the drive system on it. somewhere were youcan look in without dismantling parts of the sunroof too much.

If there is nothing to see then you may have to start taking bits out but i personally wouldn't trust myself to put it back together correctly. I know it will probably cost a couple bob but might be worth popping into a Fiat garage to see if they have any solutions or if they can do it.

you can take a look, but don't start prodding and poking the mechanism, perhaps give it a s[pray with electrical contact cleaner which will help dissolve any crud. Also, try removing the lining from around the inner sunroof area, this exposes a little bit more of the mechanism/working and you can attempt o spray in as many nooks and crannies as possible.

There is an article somewhere on this forum by someone who has had to get theirs working so might be worth doing a search..

I will pop in Halfords and get the electrical contact cleaner and try to spray it in there without dismantling it too much.

If that does not help, i would bring it to the fiat garage.

i will keep you updated on the result.

Thanks again for your advice, you guys have been really helpful.
