sorry if my english isn't that good

i bought a Fiat_stilo_1.9_jtd_80_active since shortly

but im noticed that my Fan on the radiator isn't working..

even if i let the engine run for a long time , it doesn't go on after a time as im used to from other cars ..

the airco doesn't work either ... of course

when i put the ventilation in the car on 0 , and than press the airco on i can hear that the ventilation system is going on

but still no signs of the Fan turning on ... and temperature meter on dashbord says temp. is oke when i drive or when i leave the car running in our driveway

can somebody help me with finding a technical info so i know where to look

such as where can i find the relay that switches the fan on and off , or other sensors and how i can check if the relay is working fine

ps: i also have a airbag failure but thats not worrying me i heard it should be some connector under the seat.

whats worrying me is that maybe my moter could overheat .. ! o for i forget ... I HAVE NO WATER LOS !

and the standard radio cd-player is doing strange , sometimes i have no frequency .. than only the CD is working ... and no its not the antenna or cable because with a other radio its working fine , but i like it originally

Hi all ,

i followd the forum ..

and when i pull the heat sensor off the moter the fan start working and turns great !!

now what do i have to do to let it work normally

when i let the sensor off the moter and turn off the car , the fan runs for a min or 2 and than shuts off and it seems that he runs on a lower speed ..

but when i plug in the sensor and let the car run , it takes a while and than the temp seems normal , but no sign of the fan coming on even when the car runs for half hour or longer on the right temprature...

when i have the sensor off and let the fan run for few min. and than plug it back in i can feel the hoses are cooler and temprature meter on the dashbord shows me also that the temprature is lower ( a bit to the left )

and than it takes an other few min and it shows me normal again

the radiator really getting warm on all sides... no cold spots ..

is the heat-sensor broken ?

in side the car it really get warm when i put the ventilation on warm .. so i think that the thermostat is working fine

i hope i dont confuse you with my messed up explaining of the problem

When driving in the UK, the engine cooling fan on my JTD never come on unless the air conditioning is switched on. I can leave it idling for hours without A/C and it doesn't come on, but the temperature gauge is always on normal.

The only times my fan has come on by itself is when driving in Greece, Bulgaria and Romania when the outside temperature is above about 38ºC.

so this is normal ... ? im in austria for the moment and even when temp outside is 35+ it still doesnt come on ..

o and my airco.. doesnt work either and even than the fan doenst goes on ..

but when i leave the ventilation off , and than press the airco on .. the ventilation starts turning on a low stand at least something works haha

This is the wiring diagram for the radiator fan.


Fuse 6 and relay 'T6' control the radiator fans SLOW speed.
and
Fuse 7 and relay 'T7' control the radiator fans FAST speed.
the fuses and relays are located in the fuse box next to your battery.

You say that you can hear your Aircon when you turn the fans off. Is this noise a kind of 'hiss'... if so your aircon system probably just requires a regas as the refrigerant level is low. take it to your local Aircon Service Centre

your Radio... there was a known issue with the tuners on the standard CD head units where sometimes they would work and sometimes they wouldn't... i think its time for you to get another head unit. you can replace it with another standard unit or get yourself an aftermarket model.

The JTD has an ECU (M150) to control engine fan speed, not a resistor, so this is the wiring diagram for it.

yes devran is correct... i was looking at a JTD 16v 115 i do appologise

so you think its the fuse or relay ?

and also think that the fan has to turn after some time ...? or do you also think this is normal that it doesnt switch on after some time with engine on temperature

can it be possible that it doesnt switch on because the airco system isnt ok ?

so i just have the check the fuse and relay , because the rest of the wiring should be ok .. and refill the airco

does it have any use if i let them refil my airco.. because the fan doesnt come one..

If the air conditioning is working, the engine cooling fan should come on whenever the A/C is switched on.

if i turn the vent in the car off... and than push A/C i can hear the vent going on an feel a soft breeze coming out of the vent ..


but the engine cooling fan isnt coming on..
