Hi all, just picked up some 16"alloys form someone who had them on a brava/bravo, in thinking about lowering it as the wheels do look quite small lol any ideas on how much by? I can find the springs that lower the front I think 40-45mm and the rear 35mm, it's on a 1.2 if that helps? Any help will be appreciated?

Yes there's certainly a lot of air between the tyres and the arch :p a 35mm drop just using springs should neaten it up abit. I've used EBACH springs in the past and found them excellent. You could go the whole hog and fit adjustable shocks but IMO won't be necessary. And yes it is possible to get a 40-45 drop as I have it on mine.

Also just looking at your pictures, another reason for your wheels looking "small" might be down to the really low profile of those tyres?? What size are they? 16" aren't that small when fitted to the stilo as I've seen them before but they usually have a slightly taller tyre on them :)

(y) on the tyres being too small, although they may be correct for the alloys from the bravo you would need to check correct tyre fitment guide for the make and size of the alloys from the bravo to make sure correct tyre size is fitted to them and compare to what should be fitted on the stilo for that wheel size as also being an incorrect size for the stilo would give incorrect speedo readings..
for winter I swap my standard stilo 17" alloys for 15" wheels with correct winter tyre size for them of 195/65 and they still fill the wheel arch the same and give same speedo reading and in no way have the gap between tyre and wheel arch that your pics show

The tyres are 195 45 16, I didn't know they'd be that much air in the arches if I'm honest lol would lowering it make it look better with these tyres? And by how much if anyone would help lol thank for the replys though :)

With the right size tyre fitted as quoted above You'ld only need a 35mm drop or a 40 at the front and 35 at the rear to give it a more aggressive stance but it depends what you like? Some folk like there cars so slow that they scrub the paint off the sump - not for me personally I like the subtlety low look :D

Ah right so I'd pretty much have to get better tyres? Damn I'd bought them mainly for the fact my wheels I had on had pretty much low tread and these cane up at a bargain, I wanted to lower it aswell and thought they'd look nice lowered but can't do a photoshop to see if they'd look alright the way they were lol

Hmmm that's strange if that's the size, I had a set of 16s on before I got claws and they didn't look any way near that small. Might be worth getting them check out in case it puts your speedo out.

Here's what my 16s looked like, and as far as I know my car isn't lowered...

Yeah I'll have to get it all checked out then :( I thought that it would suit it better if I'd for some 45mm lowering springs for the front and 30mm on the rear (thats what I've found on eBay anyway) and that would make them look a whole lot better but don't want to risk spending on them as it not making any difference whatsoever, I would've liked them to be just like yours but I didn't know they were coming with the low profile tyres they have on

Shaun, you still may not need it lowering yet? Toby's car has the correct size tyres on and as you'll see the tyres fill the arches quite nicely so all not lost :)

Ohhhh ok :) so I'm going to have to probably get different tyres then (ones that fit ) lol will they have to e 205/55/16 tyres then?

Yeah shouldn't cost you too much and it's always a plus side if you sell them. With the right size hoops on you'll be able to stand back and see if it needs lowering (which is always a good idea : D ) or not lol

Yeah defdinett true if then be able to sell them for more hopefully if I ever did :) thanks mate really appreciate the help :) never though my local tyre shop might swap my tyres for the right ones if they're generous lol then ill see if I need to lower it as that sounds a good idea still lol

Might be worth seeing if they have any good quality part worns for the time being, cost you around £90 for 4 rather than between £170 - 350 for 4 brand new ones. They'd get you going and still last 6 months or more in most cases (y)
