Hi everyone,

MOT time next month so looking to get everything sorted out before it runs out!

Last's years advisories were that my rear calipers were sticking to the point they couldn't spin the wheel. They soaked them up in WD40 and passed me, but i've noticed this last month my back breaks make a solid clunk as they release when I pull away.
I've just noticed on the rear right hand side the pads have almost completely worn away, so it's going to be a fun time changing these.

Any pointers on buying calipers? Should I buy second hand, can I clean my existing ones up?

Disks/Pads are as easy as the guides make out yeh? Just need a rewind tool?

Thanks,

Mike!

Theres a place in Birmingham offers new calipers at good prices . Ebay search should find them CarFactorsUk. Not worth trying to fix them yourself unless you really like messy and difficult jobs.
You may need new handbrake cables. The nearside one is prone to stick in its sleeve as it gets affected by heat from the exhaust.
Brake pads easily available as I'm sure you know. Search on the forum here for any advice re fitting especially rewinding.
When you replace the pads make sure they slide comfortably in the caliper (should be fine as you are fitting new) but also put a bit of copper slip on the caliper slides (keeps them free) and the back of the pads (stops them squealing.)

I've seen on eBay Mintex Pads+Disks bundles. Has anyone got any experience of these? Worth buying?

There's been numerous posts that Mintex pads never stop squeaking. I had the same problem with them on my JTD. I changed them after a few thousand miles for genuine Fiat pads and discs that don't squeak.

Okay. Glad I dodged that bullet! Is there any other brands bar genuine's that can be had for a reasonable price? I'm not fussed about drilled/grooved at present

Hi. Allied Nippon are good pads don’t squeal and last well good price too, agree with last post Mintex pads are crap but the discs are O.K.
