After 11 years (almost) there was a little bang above my right ear, and now my lovely roof has completely locked up and the horrid sound of gears slipping is all that can be heard... so no open roof in the current hot spell. The blind works fine, and the front panel lifts a little, but nothing more than that. Having read about the various issues people have had i've scoured the web and I do seem to have been fortunate enough to have found a possible donor, but need to ask a possibly silly question.

I've got a 3dr, and the donor skywindow is coming out of a 5dr... is the skywindow the same for both models? I'd assume so, but just want to be sure.

With regards to replacing this unit, is it just a simple case of dropping the head liner, and unbolting the brackets remove the old one and drop in the new one? (sounds simple i know!)

For the hassle i've read about trying to repair the bowden cabling mechanism it seems easier just removing swapping (albeit with salvaging the old main motor for the donor one)

Any help appreciated before I fork out a few pounds!

Thanks

David.

Alex,

Thanks for replying. I've gone through it, and I don't have the time/patience to attempt a full disassembly on the roof to repair it. I've been offered a working skyroof from a 5door, and my query was whether the skyroof is the same for the 3 and 5 door models?

I've a had a look through eper, but couldn't find a variant between 3 and 5 door, so just asking the forum if anyone knows can i simply swap my non working 3door roof for a 5door version?

Thanks.
