Almost home on Thursday night in fairly heavy rain and the wipers crossed up and stopped working. :(

Not had chance to investigate yet but having searched the forum suspect it's the linkages - had to do those on my son's 2003 Punto a few months ago.

Will have a look soon as I can and if it is the linkages will order some from Wipex along with a rear wiper.

I've got some of the Wipex linkages on order - the other day my nearside wiper just stopped working.

It was a bit of a job to get the wiper arms off, even with the removal tool. Had to use some penetrating oil.

That was the hardest part on my Stilo. From there it's just remove the pins and then the scuttle cover - which will be gripping to the windscreen with grime!

On mine, the rubber insert in the linkage isn't gripping the ball joint anymore, and so fell off.

if you do not go for replacing the linkage arms you can also get clips that slip on to prevent the clinkage arm falling off, either way they are both push to fit once you have the scuttle cover off which you may need some new of the black cplastic tree studs things if any snap on removal of scuttle cover there are 3 of them once you have wiper arms off.

Worse for me as both stopped working and at anything like a decent speed very difficult to see! :D Fortunately only had about a mile to go.

I had the foresight (thanks to another thread) to get a removal tool as well beforehand and like you, using it and dismantling fluid I still had a real job getting them off - the tool kept sliding off until I thought of putting the nuts back on and leaving them proud. And managed to trap my finger in the wiper when it snapped back, ouch!

Got one of the trim panel buttons out OK with a screwdriver but had to resort to pliers on the other two which broke them. No problem though as I picked some up from Halfords on the way home.

Glad to see with the Stilo that the bottom of the windscreen sits in a metal channel, unlike with the Punto, where it is exposed and easy to crack the screen. :(

Hopefully the bits should arrive from Wipex tomorrow and I can put it back together.

Mine arrived this morning, haven't had a chance to fit them yet thanks to the rain.

Very quick service from them. Perhaps a tad pricey, but they're pretty much the only supplier of them so they have the power! Besides, if it gets me up and running again, it will have been £27 well spent.

Have just done mine - working perfectly now!

I took some photos and will upload them in a bit, so you guys who haven't done them yet can have a look beforehand.

The puller device proved perfect for removing the old linkages and applying the new ones!

Great service form Wipex - ordered Monday night and had arrived at work first this morning - which is just what you want when your wipers have packed up.

Did mine tonight but not as straight forward as hoped. Obviously been a problem for a previous owner (really poor design wasn't it) and the fix was to weld a washer on and I had to set to with a hacksaw and file to get it off and tidy it up.

Pity I didn't see the tip about using the extractor to remove and fit the linkages, nice one, but a screwdriver and brute force got them sorted. :)

At least there's plenty of room where the linkages and motor are situated which makes removal and refitting easy.

Whilst the bonnet was up I gave the engine bay a wipe over with WD40 - they always run better after a bit of TLC! :)

Glad to hear you're sorted now.

For others interested, I took photos of everything, so I'll make a photo guide tomorrow. For now though, here is a photo of removing the old linkage with the removal tool, and one of putting the Wipex ones on.

Finished the job today by fitting new wiper blades to the new OEM arms I bought and the rear arm and blade I bought from Wipex when getting the new links.

All working nice and smooth now.

How is everyone else getting on with their Wipex linkages?

I'm wondering if the linkages might be a slightly different length - even just a few mm.
The bigger blade/drivers side blade taps against the pillar everytime it's used. It seems to sit at rest in the same place, but it travels just a little too far, and taps the metal.
The noise is quite annoying when you're using the wipers.

Anyone else experienced this?
