I have a 3 door Stilo 1.9 Multijet 150 that the water pump failed on . Does anyone know the torque and sequence settings for this? I need to refit the cylinder head. Got the elearn cd but it seems to be the only engine listed that lacks this info :bang:

sorry to hear on pump /belt failure i think your the first stilo jtd 150hp to suffer?
lots more alfas have suffered the same fate im affraid im even on borrowed time if following alfas new 40,000 mile or 4 year recomendations(i think)
for the record what was your milage and age of original belt?
how many rockers did you lose?
as for head torque
copied off alfa forum here(so no idea if correct or not)

Cheers for the replies been a great help.

The belt was changed at 84,500 I bought the car 103,000, the water pump failed at 109,000 and made the belt slip 2 teeth. Broke all 16 rockers! Hopefully its looking like that's the only damage though. All the valves lapped in fine. Thanks again

Strange to hear belt slipped. I bought 150 last Jan with failed pump, only symptom was temp rising if revved hard. Belt and pump changed and 12m later going fine. Mechanic said the pump spins and doesn't lock like a VW. Showed me the failed pump, sorry you weren't so lucky

from the more failed alfas theres two failures
the impellor slips on the shaft and fails to pump(as you had)
the pump bearings fail and lock up stripping the belt and breaking rockers
another guy had trouble with his 20v jtdm similar design and the rockers had shed all the needle roller bearings throughout the rockerbox and possibly getting down into galleries or sump.
with rocker failure its worth checking all the neddle rollers are accounted for if diy doing it, it had damaged the cam also
and he had a second failure recently that did the same again broke all rockers on exhaust cam, eventually he tracked it down to the crank pully that had been damaged in the failure and broke a bit off the keyway so when he refitted rockers belts etc and timed it up it instantly broke the rockers again.
so maybe also worth checking crank pully if diy doing it.
lets hope garages do the same.
