multimeter test of brake light switch

Hi
I have followed the guide on testing the brake light switch using my multimeter, I am though in doubt about the result. The switch has 4-poles, and only the one pair responds when I press the switch. Is this how it should be if it is working ok?
I have had a lot of engine fault, ASR, alternator error and loose connections errors and now it was clearly associated with activation of the brake. Perhaps the brake light switch is part of the problems.

My car: fiat stilo dynamic 2002, 1.6 16v
All the best and thanks

Re: multimeter test of brake light switch

Well, just replaced with a new one, which responded in the same manner on the multimeter test. No difference neither on the car, still it reports loose connection when I press the brake and in addition the panel lights up with almost all alarm lights while it beeps 'loose connection' repeatedly. But once in a while I can activate the brake without errors so apparently there is a loose connection somewhere. Any comments are really appreciated.

Did you adjust the switch correctly after fitting it?

Re: multimeter test of brake light switch

The loose connection warning message and multiple warning lights can appear if the battery is faulty, or not fully charged.
